Warning: Don't even think about contacting Flying Beds.

Flying Beds depends on its splashy website to sell wallbeds mainly to people outside Colorado. There are designs of wallbeds with side cabinets, tables, tv inserts, office space, etc. We hired an interior designer to draw up plans with room dimensions, cabinet choices, color, etc and I flew to Denver to check out the company and discuss our plans with the owner.

This personal visit was essential because: I couldn't find reviews of Flying Beds on the internet; the beds are very expensive; this is custom furniture made to specification. Even more important is the company payment policy. Once your plans are finalized you pay 50% before the bed is made, and you pay the balance before it is shipped.

But there is NO GUARANTEE that you will get exactly what you ordered. If the bed you receive is different from your contract drawings there is NO REPLACEMENT of faulty goods. There is NO ADJUSTMENT IN PRICE. And there are NO REFUNDS. NONE! Custom product from a company with terrible customer service. You are not dealing with Amazon here.

So what happened with our project? My first email to the company is dated April 11, 2015. The last email from the company, providing information about delivery, is dated October 5, 2016. Eighteen months later! But delays weren't our main problem here.

Firstly the unit was too tall to fit under our ceiling beam, but when this was explained the owner simply said to cut off the top of the cabinets. Our Flying Bed is 8 feet tall, weighs more than 400 lbs, and is custom made. No cabinet shop here would touch the project. Secondly, the bed frame we ordered was to be black to match the dark color of our leather couch and wood floor. Our bed frame was a light color called putty. We requested a replacement and since then there has been no further communication from Flying Beds.

These units are custom made. Ours cost almost $10,000. For this kind of money the company can be expected to make its product exactly as ordered and replace anything amiss. So far, our bed is not yet installed and we reject its mismatched color. Our written complaints have not been answered, and the owner has not returned our calls. So I tell our story here, plain and simple. Just know that if you are determined to deal with this company you do it on their terms so try to gain some protection by paying with a credit card that enables you to dispute a charge.

Any custom furniture shop can build wallbed cabinetry for you. Or just buy a completed unit directly from a local dealer. But buying long distance from Flying Beds may give you a headache that a good night's sleep can't cure.

Steer Clear of this Business: ...

Steer Clear of this Business: They missed 2 service appointments and when I called Ron the owner about my unhappyness he called me a liar. The first visit this missed because the job they were on ran long-I said no problem, please come the following Tuesday-than they missed that date. I called Ron and he was on vacation in Florida. I asked him to come the following Tuesday-Tuesday came and when no Show. I called Ron again and he flat out called me a Liar. I think he is loosing his mind to treat customers like that. I called Closet factory and they scheduled the service and showed up on time and did the job perfectly. I own a business and if I treated customer this way I would expect these type of reviews.
