My wife and I moved to Delray Beach Florida 6 years ago from a large northeastern city. We purchased A villa in Las Verdes. To be more exact we purchased our villa in a subdivision of Las Verdes called, "Laurel Oaks". Each villa in Laurel Oaks has its own private driveway and there are 93 homes in this satellite subdivision of Las Verdes. Approximately 6 months ago my HOA hired a local asphalt paving company to pave all of the roads and repair or replace all of the driveways in our small 93 home community. The total cost to my HOA exceeded 156 thousand dollars. The total breakdown means that each home owner paid approximately $1700.00 to have the above repair work done. Within 2 weeks of the completion of the work, I noticed that the asphalt work done in my driveway was truly substandard. I immediately brought this to the attention my HOA. I also did a quick visual survey of my entire 93 home community and noticed that ongoing disintegration of all the roadways and driveways within Laurel Oaks was apparent. I was informed by my HOA, that they had already contacted the contractor who performed the work regarding all of the disintegration issues of the roadways and driveways in our community. A representative from the company visited and claimed that all of the issues that I have mentioned above, were normal. Thus no corrective action has been initiated by the aforementioned company. The industry's standard is to warrantee of the asphalt work for 1 year after its completion. The company involved has come up with one excuse after another why there is nothing wrong with their work. This type of roadway and driveway work should last approximately 10 years. At this point the work performed will never last that long.
