This is in response to Captain K.'s review below - I am the store owner. The gentleman admits he was advised that a 20" bar and chain could be used on the saw but that he did not have the money for it at that time and that he wanted a saw that day to complete work he was performing. We offered to sell him a new 20" bar and chain at a 20% discount and also install it free of charge. We did not have a use for his USED bar and chain. The new set-up would have run about $75 - something he expected us to give him for free and as much as we pride ourselves on providing great service - I could not find a reason we should absorb a loss because the gentleman did not have enough money or time to buy the saw set-up as he ultimately wanted it to be. Our gross profit margin on Stihl products is 18% before freight or labor to assemble the blade/chain or sales associate labor is taken into consideration. The gentleman used foul-mouthed language during our conversation and, in response to advising him that I would have been unable to re-sell his used 16" bar and chain, he told me I could "sleep with it". I tried to make a very fair offer to this individual and I regret we were unable to meet his expectations - in my opinion - they were unreasonable.

I bought a Stihl Chainsaw from Ace Hardware in Delavan, owned by Michael Costoff of Delavan. When I bought the saw it had a 16"bar on it. I ask the pros there what the biggest bar I can add to this saw and they told me a 20" bar. So I told them that I will come back the a longer bar later because I didnt want to spend the extra money at that time. I went back a few weeks later to buy the bar and an employee there told me that I could've bought that saw with a 20"bar. I said "what?" I asked If he could switch the bars for me and he said that I would have to talk with the manager who wasnt there at the time. So today I went back armed with $250 to buy a weedwacker/trimmer if they gave me a 20' bar for my saw. They said no. He called the owner, Michael Costoff and he said no. So I called ace corporate and got a case number and they called Michael and he said he would give me a 20% discount on a 20"bar n chain. wow what a deal.....NOT! I am not only ready to spend $250 on a trimmer, but I'm also building a greenhouse, garden, and gutting my basement for a rebuild. Potentially 1000's of dollars in business for my local Ace right? I told them I am going to buy this stuff in the next few months. They can't do anything. So they lose that business from me for a bar and chain that cost under 100. I also told them they can have the 16" bar that came with it so they know I not trying to get something for nothing. Wish I bought that chainsaw from the local farm equipment dealer, but my old saw broke on a Sunday in the middle of clearing trees so I had to go to ace to finish the job that day. What BUMMER! DO NOT give ace hardware of Delavan or Michael Costoff your business or this could happen to you!
