Dr. Jiab is awesome. He took the time to explain my options and care plan, was careful with his procedure, and listened to my concerns. The entire staff awesome and did everything they could to ensure I was comfortable during my visit.

I am an Engineer @ Ford; I went to Jiab H Suleiman Do PC on 9/16/15 Wednesday for my left thumb IP Joint dislocation, what followed is pain, sleepless nights, big bills and incorrect procedure scheduled.

• According to usual orthopedic practices, such dislocation must be tried to fix by traction/physical method and if it doesn’t work then minor surgery, But Dr. Suleiman saw my X-ray and straight away said it’s a very complex dislocation and it need to be fixed by complicated surgery only, which involves inserting screws on my bone to hold it in place. He didn’t even try to fix by any other simple method.

• I read a lot about IP dislocation and all the articles from famous doctors mentioned that the IP joints are stable joints and should be fixed by traction and flexion. So I mentioned about this to Dr. But he asked me to mind my engineering work and let him do the doctor work. Every patient has the right to know the full details about his surgery and the proper explanation why it can’t be fixed without a surgery. But I was told to relax and let the Dr do his job. Then they put a CAST ON BROCKEN thumb to make sure I don’t move my thumb further. I was sent back home without even pain killer or any medication.

• Thursday 9/17/15, very next day Doctor’s office called me to schedule the surgery date which was 9/22/15. I was surprised they delayed it so far since they explained it to be critical to me. I have a basic insurance plan so they asked me to pay upfront the surgery cost 4300$ (excluding anesthesia, office visit and facility fee). This is shady, I thought insurance will take care of it and I will pay the insurance whatever my portion is.

• I was in tremendous pain for three days since I had the cast on Brocken thumb which was swollen. I requested Dr. Suleiman to remove the cast.

• Luckily I mentioned this to my colleague/friend and he happened to have a sister who is Orthopedic, he asked me to send the X-ray picture. Her sister (Dr. Vani Sabesan, MD) looked at it and immediately asked me to come to her home on Sunday 9/20/15.

• Dr. Vani Sabesan explained that it need to be Reduced (bone re-alignment) immediately and asked me why Dr. Suleiman didn’t do it on Wednesday itself. She numbed my thumb and physically moved my dislocated thumb to right spot, which is traction and flexion method. I was given pain killer and swelling reducer. Also I was asked to consult with EPHRAIM ZINBERG, MD (hand Surgeon) on Tuesday 9/22/15, where the Dr. Zinberg took another X-ray and confirmed that the thumb is back to right location and I just need splint support for three weeks until it heels.

• I am saved by a good friend and better doctors today, otherwise I would have gone through the 6000$ complex surgery which would have restricted my thumb motion for life.
