Patrick Allan M.D. received his M.D. from Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1998. His post-graduate training included the completion of his internal medicine residency and a pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine fellowship with the U.S. Air Force in 2004. After commanding the Air Force pulmonary and critical care fellowship and Cystic Fibrosis Center, he then co-founded the first Air Force Sleep Medicine fellowship. He subsequently commanded the combined pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine services for both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army in Europe for 2007 through 2010. During this time he completed more than 60 career inter-continental critical care air transport mission having cared for wounded service members, hurricane victims, and elected officials. He co-founded the first combat-associated extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) team and became a subject matter expert in high-frequency ventilation. He has written or co-wrote more than 100 abstracts, articles, and book chapters. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases, critical care, sleep medicine, neurocritical care medicine, and interventional pulmonology.
