SweetHART is an advance reservation bus service that is available for persons with disabilities and for people above the age of 60. The vehicles and buses are wheelchair lift equipped. Its drivers provide assistance to passengers with getting on and off the bus and to and from the door of their destination, as well as drivers carry grocery bags and packages on request. The bus requires advance notice for trips for work, physical therapy and other purposes. SweetHART vehicles have capacities to accommodate wheelchairs, scooters and mobility devices, such as walkers and canes. It also allows guide dogs and other service animals, as well as allows passengers to travel with respirators, portable oxygen and other life support equipment. The bus is operated by Housatonic Area Regional Transit and maintains its office in Danbury, Conn.
