Provided by YP.comThere is no other place in Dallas Fort Worth like the Retina Foundation! In the 1990s, research at the Retina Foundation lead to the discovery that DHA is necessary for normal babies’ brain and eye development. Now, DHA-enriched breast milk is sold worldwide. Research at the Retina Foundation has also lead to a transformation in surgical practice for babies born with a cataract in one or both eyes. It used to be standard practice to wait to perform the surgery until the baby weighed a certain amount. A major research study at the Retina Foundation proved that surgery was necessary before that time – within 4 to 6 weeks after birth – in order to ensure normal eye growth and function. Now, in 2019, the Retina Foundation is working on a drug delivery project to treat the currently untreatable variation of age-relation macular degeneration which currently impacts more than 10 million Americans and hundreds of thousands of Texans. Research at the Retina Foundation is supported by prominent organizations, such as the National Eye Institute, and leads to FDA-approved treatments and technologies.
