The first true designer hotel in Dallas, The Joule embodies a new sense of energy sweeping through the revitalized historic center. With its elegant ambience and exhilarating contemporary design by Adam D. Tihany, the 129-room hotel is in a very special class of its own. The restoration of the 1920s neo-gothic facade is further enhanced by a new 10-story tower and striking lobby. The building's legacy of scale allows for high columns, which are enhanced with new sweeping dark lime oak beam details evocative of the framework of oil derricks in the fields. Guestrooms, in compelling configurations including duplex suites and a penthouse with private access and a rooftop terrace, are invitingly sleek, with high-end finishes, inventive decor and original furniture designs that maximize the use of space. The deep blue, gray and burgundy-toned rooms feature iconic black and white photographs of downtown Dallas in its social, architectural and artistic light, specially commissioned for the hotel. Building off the hotel's theme, Charlie Plamer at The Joule expresses the energy of wind with subtle references throughout, including slow-moving turbines spinning from above and a collection of iconic photo-art pieces. The acclaimed chef and restaurateur has created a distinctively American menu that lets diners customize their selections. A trendsetting underground bar will offer a lively option for late-night cocktails.
