I tried Hi Tech few times and they have been good with me every time. Their assay and my expectation is almost the same every time. They are good people and their customer service is very good. I will continue to do business with them.

I am a jeweler and have used many refining companies over the past 20 years but overall I have found Hi-Tech to be the most accurate and quickest response of all of them. Gold refining is better understood if you are a jeweler and know what you are refining and therefore there are no surprises. My estimates and their findings have been almost dead on every time. I also appreciate the promt payment. I will continue to use Hi-Tech on a regular basis.

High tech is a rip off

Yeah, I used them three times because they said that they didn't charge refining fees and they said that they were paying 100% of the gold tested. . The first time I used them, I took a gold ring in and they tested it to be 10k and paid me less than I should have received. Later, I found the receipt on the original purchase from a reputable jewelry store and it was 14k.

The second time I used them, I took a bag of gold that was predominatly 14k which is .5875 gold. I expected the gold to lose little of the gold with processing like maybe 2% and with the few pieces of 10 k would be .395. They melted it while I watched and then they put it on their assay machine. Guess what, my assay, according to their machine, was 41%. I made next to nothing on my gold.

The third time I used them, it was the same story. About a week later, I was at another refinery complaining to a guy who sells gold and he told me that the same thing had happend to him. He said that he found out that they had been doing it to some other people. Basically, when you walk in, they size you up and determine if you are a jeweler. If not, they screw you with the machine that determines what % of gold that you have. Sure they don't charge refinery fees and pay at 100% because they make enough off of the false reading assay machine.

This all happened about 2 years ago. I have not used them since then.

I used another refinery in Dallas and they paid me a little more than what I was expecting even after a small refining charge. When I commented on them paying more than what Hi TEch paid, they laughed and said that I wasn't the first person that had been taken.

That has been 2 years ago and maybe they have changed their tactic.

Incidentally, the other refiner that I use no longer charges a refining fee.

STRAIGHT SHOOTERS & SQUARE DEALERS

Went to HI TECH, on the advise of a friend of mine.

I was at his shop and he told me about these "new guys" he was using.

He said he got paid top dollar for a few small rings, on the spot!

I had only a little over an ounce of 18k gold and some scrap silver.

As a jeweler for over 25 years, I've used several Refiners to refine and sell my

old scrap gold, filings, and polishings.I knew what I would get from my "old guy's"

Melt fee's, refining fee's, shipping fee's, insurance fee's, a big percentage

of the metal value would be gone and I would have to wait 1-2 weeks for my return.

My experience with refiners has always felt like a "shell game" or a "box of chocolates" I never knew

what I was going to get? Sometimes I felt like I'd been scalped!

I took my metal over. They weighed, melted, and did the assay right in front of me.(unheard of)

After assay results, they paid me 98% of gold spot price, without the usual fee's, wait, guessing game and hassles.

I got the highest % return on my metal, ever! Now I have a "new" Refiner! One that I feel is a

staight shooter and a square dealer!
