WORST EXPERIENCE EVER !! I took my puppy in with skin irritation and rash to see dr norton because I was told he was "good at his job". However after getting my dog looked over, he told me the same thing the cheap vet down the road told me and tried giving me the same meds, just in a higher dosage. I told the dr norton that I believe the cause was his food, as how he never showed any signs of rash until the change the food. He said, " oh yah, I'm sure it's the food, I'm saying that sarcastically of course because I know that it's not." So I proceeded to give my dog meds and lime dips for 2 weeks until I went back and the rash was just the same. I tried calling several times during these 2 weeks and dr norton was a jerk every single time I called calling to ask questions or get more information. My puppy was up all night for 2 weeks scratching and itching and dr norton could seem to care less. So finally after all this mess, I go in and demand someone else come in and check my puppy for allergies, and sure enough, he was food allergies that was causing the problem. So I wasted $400 to have a jerk tell me one thing and argue with me like I was an idiot, just it spend another $130 to find out it was his food all along like I can asked him to look into the first time I went to see him. dr norton is a complete JERK and he will never get my business again!!!!

Actually, the pet was brought in by his girl friend. Because there were several much more likely diseases that could be spread to humans, including scabies (mange), ringworm, bacterial infections, these had to be eliminated. Food allergy is a diagnosis made ONLY after excluding these severe diseases. This young man only came on 1 visit, the rest of the time it was his girl friend. She was reasonable and listened to recommendations. He was prone to jumping to conclusions that weren't necessarily correct. If I had put the dog on allergy diet and later found out it had Scabies that spread to the owner, would he have been happy then? The dog presented for severe itching & scratching the day he arrived.

Dr. Norton knows his stuff!! ...

Dr. Norton knows his stuff!! He really cares about the animals and is very concerned about finding the correct diagnosis. He is very thorough and treats me with respect. Dr. Norton's prices are fair and the Receptionist and Technicians are very nice to deal with. My dog LOVES going there! And so do I. It's nice to have found a Vet that I can rely on in every way!

Dr. Norton is THE BEST!! He is very thorough and doesn't stop until he finds the cause of the problem. I took my dog to another Vet who said she needed "an oatmeal-based bath for her dry skin". When I then took her to Dr. Norton, he found a skin problem that requred medication, not a bath!! Also, my dog ended up with a tumor in her abdomen, which Dr. Norton found after doing extensive tests (well worth it, I might add). Dr. Norton is pleasant and gives you the FACTS. He does not interrupt me and I don't interrupt him. I think having mutual respect with your Vet is important and it jus happens naturally with Dr. Norton. Also, everybody that works there knows their job very well - the Technicians and the Receptionist. You won't have to worry about dealing with an "Airhead" at Dr. Norton's office. I highly recommend him and if you didn't like him the first time, give him another try. I think you'll be highly satisfied.

I think Dr. Norton is GREAT!!!...

I think Dr. Norton is GREAT!!! He tells it like it is, which I like. He is very thorough and diagnosed a skin infection that another vet had missed only 1 week earlier. He prescribed antibiotics and a skin treatment, which cleared it up. My dog was panting all the time and Dr. Norton did everything he could think of to try to find the cause, which turned out to be a tumor on her spleen. He recommended an Ultrasound and when he got the results, he recommended Surgery by a different Surgeon in case there were complications. He could have done it himself and made the money, but in the interest of my dog's well-being he referred me to a Surgeon. I find him to be honest, very caring, and he does not interrupt me when I speak. I listen to what he has to say and then speak. The negative reviews on this site do not reflect Dr. Norton's true personality. Perhaps he was having a bad day. Give him a break! He cares more for the patients AND their families than any vet I have ever had. I have also heard him joke around a little bit! So, if you want FANTASTIC CARE for your animal, go to Dr. Norton. His staff is also very knowledgeable, professional and also really care about the animals. My dog just LOVES Valerie, the Technician. I would recommend Frankford Crest Animal Hospital to anyone with a pet. I won't be going anywhere else as long as Dr. Norton is in practice!!!!!

I would rate Frankford Crest in two ways

1- Animal Care- 5 stars! Dr. Norton is a very thorough vet. I trust his knowledge completely.

2-Dr. Norton- 1 star. He has difficulty with back and forth dialogue between vet and pet owner; it is more of a lecture situation. The client is rarely allowed to speak. You will be interrupted and treated with little respect, especially if you are a woman.

I prefer to send my husband so my pet can get quality care- and I won't have to deal with Dr. Norton.

While agree with very few of your comments, the Dr is a VET, he is not a human dr. HE IS NOT THERE TO BLOW SUNSHINE UP YOUR A**. His main concern is YOUR PET, NOT YOU. Your dog got better, didn't it, so he did what he was supposed to do.

Five Star Vet

Dr Norton and his staff are great. They all really care about animals and it shows in the way they act around their patients. We took our cat, Hershey, to Frankford Crest last year after our old vet had been unable to find the cause of his seizures. Dr Norton methodically tested him and correctly diagnosed the problem. While he is still undegoing treatment , Hershey is 100 percent better and we believe he will soon be completely cured.

I've read the negative reviews about Dr Norton's lack of "bedside manners" and this may be somewhat true. However, he obviously loves his patients, if not always their humans!

We'll continue to get the best medical treatment we can for Hershey; Dr Norton and Frankford Crest Animal Hospital provide that treatment.

My experience

I found Dr. Norton and his staff to be very caring. He performed the surgery as scheduled, explained in detail everything he had done and would be doing in the next visits. Very detailed. Then to my surprise he also called - not once but several times to find out how he was doing. Exceptional. His staff, well I cannot say enough about them also.

I want to publicly thank Dr. Norton and his staff for everything they have done for my precious dog.

That doc NEEDS to learn what bed side manner is!!!!

I brought my dog in there today, W/in Half an hour of finding out my dog has a tumor, I was being scolded for "interrupting" him. When unless I interrupted him, I would not have had any chances to actually speak. He actually debated with me on the right way to talk w/ people in the customer service world. And even though my husband had not spoken to this "doctor" the entire visit, this guy had the audacity to address every remark to my husband, giving him a look of "in case the female isn't paying attention". I am going after my doctorate in psychology, and find this doctor's behavior when treating & talking to patients completely appalling and middle aged. For anyone that actually cares about the right way to be talked to, I would recommend going somewhere else. Other vet clinics around have ALOT better attitude about what they do. Maybe this "doctor" needs to rethink his profession, because being around anything living is NOT IT!!!.

However the nurses and front desk personnel were fabulous, I feel very empathic that this guy is their boss. He instead of requesting a specific item from his assistant, decided to be general, and i don't know, hope she guessed at what he wanted. He then felt it was necessary to scold her for bringing him the wrong thing.

Hope you all have a better day than I have w/ this jerk!

Actually the young lady that brought the dog in is the daughter of the owner, who by everyone in the family is very emotionally attached to the dog-and rightfully so. Her mother, the actual owner, brought the pet back, had the recommended surgery and treatment, and is very happy with the surgery, the outcome, and me.

One of the Top Vet's in the area

Read any review on the web and you'll get positive and negative extremes about any person, place or thing. When it comes to something personal like a medical doctor or a vet, those opinions tend to get even more emotional and I think a couple of the more negative reviews posted on this page about this facility fall into that category and are not an accurate overall depiction of the doctor or the services provided. That being said, I'm going to weigh in on Dr. Norton and Frankford Crest Animal Hospital. I'm a middle aged executive, without children, who loves his 15 going on 16 year old chocolate lab. I've always taken excellent care of my animals and when I had to change vets a few years ago, I did my research and landed in the office of Dr. Norton. I can say without question that it was the best decision that I made for the health and long life of my lab. We've moved since first meeting Dr. Norton and we now live in far North Collin County but we still bring our lab to Dr. Norton for regular check ups and treatment. We won't be going anywhere else for the remainder of our old puppy's life - a life, that I can say with certainty has been prolonged in good health by the excellent treatment, advice and caring provided by Dr. Norton and the staff at Frankford Crest Animal Hospital. Dr. Norton is a "no nonsense" kind of veterinarian that tells you exactly "how it is" and is first and foremost concerned with the animal's well being. He presents treatment options but respects the choices you make in following those options. He has an excellent staff and he holds them to high standards. If you are like me, and you want your pet taken care of by one of the best doctors that you can find, one that is competent, fair and honest, then go see Dr. Norton - he fits that bill perfectly and your pet will be in great hands.

Annoyed Pet Lover

I would stay away from here!!!! I took my pet in one time for an eye problem because this place was down the street from my house. The staff was exceptionally nice however the dr was a different story. He asked for all my records to be faxed even though i was only there for AN EYE ISSUE. He was not nice or considerate to me or to his own staff, however my dog did like him I guess. However the real problem started after i left..... About 2 months later I started getting phone call after phone call after phone call about how my animal was over due for vaccines and other ridiculous stuff I didnt think was neccesary on a young healthy beagle. I could NOT believe it. I have also received Multiple Emails and Postcards ON TOP OF the MANY phone calls! THIS PLACE DOES NOT STOP WITH THE PHONE CALLS. Months BEFORE he was due, the month we were going to schedule then again the month following since my husband lost his job we had to push back these items! UNBELIEVABLE, STAY AWAY unless you like to be BADGERED by your vet and his staff.

Best I've Ever Found

I've been coming to Dr. Norton for well over 20 years (ever since I moved to the Dallas area). I tried 6 different vets before I found Dr. Norton (who was recommended by a friend who used him) and was very disappointed in the quality of care and the cavalier attitude of those 6. There is no question that Dr. Norton puts the health, safety, happiness and well being of your pet first, ahead of pet owners' egos or staff members' preferences. Some owners will not like that because they want to get off cheap, believe the advice they got from an employee at PetSmart, or think they know better than the doctor, but after having gone through 3 dogs and 12 cats in those 20 years, I have observed first hand how much energy, time and caring he put into my animals. One of the cats that lives at his clinic is there because the owner told Dr. Norton to put him to sleep after finding out that this cat was going to be "too much trouble" to take care of. Dr. Norton has to manually manipulate the bathroom habits of this cat, and he chose to do this rather than end the cat's life. When my dog was dying of cancer, he did everything he could to alleviate the pain, allowed me "visiting hours" in the hospital, and sent my dog home for the weekend--hoping it would do better there, then came in on a Sunday to put my dog to sleep after it was obvious the dog was in total respiratory distress. How many vets would do that so the dog wouldn't have to suffer through another day? I've had occasion to take my pets to other vets when traveling, and none so far has come close to giving the quality of care I know I receive from Dr. Norton.
