A little taste of heaven in a little bit of thyme!

As soon as we walked in, the sounds of joyful conversations and the aroma of good food fills the air! It was a warm start to a cold winters day! Greeted with happy faces and seated immediately, we where entertained by the quick wit and unassuming charm of our waiter. After describing the many specials of the day, I decided on a taste of the Sausage and Pasta soup and the Roast Pork. My companion ordered the Mushroom filled Ravioli! She had asked the couple seated next to us who were done with their meal what they had and the gentleman raved about the ravioli. My companion had mentioned that she would like to try the soup and when the soup was served, they had thoughtfully split it into two bowls, very nice! The soup was wonderful! Slices of chorizo sausage, bits of pasta, garbanzo beans in a tasty spicy soup that was just hot enough to tickle your tongue without burning it! This was served with a fresh baked bread that had bits of sun dried tomatoes in it. My Roast Pork arrived with a nice brown garlic sauce and potatoes with sour kraut side dish. The Roast Pork slices had a a nice tender pink center and the outside seared just right so that the little bit of fat is caramelized to a tasty perfection! The Sour Kraut and Potatoes took me to my military days in Germany back in the late 70's. Wunderbar! Oh yeah, the gentleman was right about the Ravioli!

Worth the trip if you are within 75 miles!

Rare find in Culpepper Va. Cozy, French Country theme, wall murals, fresh flowers, excellent service is the "norm" from a well trained and friendly waitstaff. The restaurant is family owned and operated. The food is top shelf, everything is prepared from "scratch" with set lunch and dinner offerings and several daily specials for both meals and homemade desserts to die for. A full service bar and interesting wine selections are offered both in the alley and main dining room. I have been going to the restaurant for the past 4 years and have ordered just about everthing from soup and sandwiches, salads, fresh ground burgers (any way you want them), stewed chicken with a hint of curry and homemade "slicker" noodles hot off the stove in the same pan it was cooked in. Dinner appertizers range from lobster, crab shrimp with a interesting presentation, grilled rabbit sausages with mango chutney, soups to Prime Rib, Filet Migon, Braised Veal Shanks, Rack of Lamb, and various find and shell fish entrees will leave you bursting at the seams. Seating is limited to about 50 people and would strongly recommend reservations for dinner especially on the weekend. Friday and Saturday lunch is busy but it's worth the wait. Lunch specials are posted with pricing but dinner specials are not. If you enjoy fine dining, superior service and a good experience give it a try.
