I started having issues with my transmission and took my car (Honda Civic Hybrid) to Gillece. They assured me that there was no problem with them working on a hybrid. They gave me an estimate of about $1800 to have the transmission rebuilt. I looked around and found a new transmission for the same price but then would have to pay someone to put it in so I decide the rebuild was a better option for me. I was told the car would take a week. After they tore my car apart, they called me to let me know exactly what they had found. They also told me it was going to cost over $3000 to fix. I asked why such a huge increase. They said labor wasn't included in the estimate. Who gives an estimate without including labor? Anyhow, it was going to cost an exorbitant amount of money for them to just put it back together without fixing it and I felt over a barrel so I told them to just go ahead with the rebuild. Well, WEEKS later, I got my car back. It was NO DIFFERENT than when I took it in! I called and they said it might have to be driven for a while to 'reprogram' itself. Okay. So I drove it for a week or so. The car continued to get worse. They had me bring it back in. Their diagnosis...nothing's wrong with it, that's just how hybrids drive. Right! So I go to Honda and they charge me around $50 to diagnose it. They said the control arm in the transmission was broken. Fantastic! So it goes back to Gillece, who tells me it's not the transmission, it's the radiator leaking into the transmission. There goes another $300+ dollars and the car is still not fixed. And now they say that the antifreeze that 'leaked' into the transmission makes the factory guarantee from the company void so it'll cost me another $3000 if I want it fixed. RIDICULOUS!!!!! Rand is a nice guy, but I will NEVER take a car there again, and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone, ever! At this very moment, my friend who borrowed this car, is stranded because, wait for it....the transmission won't go into gear! Take your car to a nice little mom and pop shop and get it fixed right the first time. It'll probably cost half as much too!
