The Special Education program serves children between the ages of 3 and 5 suffering from developmental disabilities. The program is operated by St. Tammany Parish Public School System, which operates elementary, middle and high education institutions that offer a range of academic and enrichment programs. St. Tammany Parish Public School System s educational institutions provide food and transportation services. The system s Alton Elementary School enrolls more than 200 students in kindergarten through grade five and administers the Black History program. The district also operates Salmen High School administers a student council and Spanish and Beta clubs. Salmen High School provides opportunities for basketball and tennis.
