My cat had been bumping into objects, so I brought him to VCA Oso Creek with a sudden onset of blindness. It took hours to get to see a vet. They felt my cat's blindness was related to a hypoglycemic episode the prior night, which I had treated myself. They had no recommendations as regards his blindness. I found no evidence they examined the retinas of my suddenly blind cat. A few days later, I took my cat to see Dr. Gary Norsworthy in San Antonio who made time to see me & got us right in early on a Saturday morning. He DID examine my cat's retinas and found that my cat had retinal detachments accounting for his blindness and he diagnosed severe hypertension which had likely caused the retinal detachments. Prompt appropriate care when I went to VCA, just might have saved my cat's vision. Now my cat is likely permanently blind where proper treatment in the first 24 hours just might have saved his vision.

After reading the other reviews, I have to say that I was apprehensive about taking my cat and her newborn kittens in to the VCA Oso Creek hospital. HOWEVER, I had a surprisingly great experience with them. My cat had kittens two days ago. Last night they were fine. Mewing and moving around. Momma was taking care of them. This morning, everything went downhill. Momma kitty was bleeding. The kittens were lethargic. I called around and got referred here. The girls in the front were very efficient and friendly. The tech who saw us first was thorough and pleasant and the vet was really awesome. She answered all of my questions, was sympathetic to my situation and the fee charged for my visit was totally reasonable. I would definitely suggest this clinic to anyone who needs help with their cats.

I took my dog in because he was deathly ill from parvo. The staff was very professional and the doctor had a great bedside manner. My only complaint was the fees. My choice was to take him home and administer IV fluids and antibiotics myself for $390.00 or leave him at the hospital and have them do it for $1100.00. I chose the cheaper option. My dog lived and is doing very well so I cannot complain about the service. Only the price.

Don't go unless death to your pet is a possibility. I took my aging cat there for an emergency. He was crying from pain of some sort. I paid for Xrays, walkin fee, and pain drugs costing $380. They diagnosed it as soft tissue damage and said it would last about a week or so. Now, it is 6 weeks later, and he was still in pain. He got worse so we took him to our normal vet (Southside Animal Hospital). They did another set of Xrays and found a fracture in his knee on his back leg. I COULD SEE IT PLAIN AS DAY...and I am not trained in anything medical. I am very mad now that my cat has been enduring this pain for such a long time. Now he must undergo surgery immediately, where if it had been immobilized originally, would not require such drastic measures. Don't go there unless death is a possibility.
