My harman Karon studio onyx Bluetooth speaker took a nose dive off my dresser and I thought I was doomed. Nope, these guys not only fixed it but they tripled the battery life. How awesome is that? It's been home almost 2 weeks and only been on the charger 1 time. Need something fixed? These are the guys you take it to, obviously they are amazing at what thank do! Not to mention it was cheaper than buying a new speaker and it got upgrades. I won't go anywhere else. Thank you!

I've been doing business with Dr. Nerd since August 2013 when I purchased one of their in-house towers. Since then I've purchased a used laptop and a used monitor. At first, their repair service was excellent but by 2015 I noticed a steady drop quality. Every time I had to have one of my computers debugged by them, I'd get home only find either they didn't fix the problem or they corrupted some of my files.

A few months ago I had them repair the hinge on my HP laptop and instead of replacing the parts, they glued the hinge. That lasted about two days then the glue failed. That was $80.00 down the drain.

Most recently (November 29, 2016), I was continually getting a "Bad Pool Reader" screen and my computer and it would automatically go into restart. I took it in for repair but after paying $92.00 my computer was doing the same thing. After arriving back home and running the computer for only three minutes it started giving me the "Bad Pool Reader" screen and restarting again.

I did some Internet open source searches and found that the problem was most likely a software application that Dr. Nerd had installed that needed to be uninstalled. I uninstalled it and that fixed my problem.

I contacted Dr. Nerd and asked them to reimburse my $92.00. Their response was basically (and I'm paraphrasing) "not my problem." Their representative said they ran malware programs and virus programs (all installed on my computer) and "cleaned" my computer and they could not get it to give them the "Bad Pool Reader" screen. Not once.

So since they never actually saw what the problem was, how is it they could say when I picked it up that they fixed it?

The representative said that once the "Bad Pool Reader" screen appeared, I should have brought the computer back to them. He failed to offer to reimburse me the $92.00 or any portion thereof. So basically they earned $92.00 for doing nothing and I actually solved the problem myself with the help of some good Internet info.

My time is valuable. The several times I've had them repair my computers, I've had to return because they did a bad job. The only reason I returned to them this time is because the tower was one of their homemade towers and they give priority repair when you purchase their in-house equipment. I needed the tower back quickly since I use if for work and home.

So for me, Dr. Nerd ain't what she used to be. They started out being very thorough and professional, then it decayed over time. You're welcome to give them a try but I wanted to share my story with you. I'll be looking for a more technically proficient computer shop in the future. Goodbye Dr. Nerd.

Update: On November 30, 2016 I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Dr. Nerd responded quickly to the BBB and refunded my $92.00 on December 7, 2016.

THEY CAN THINK Outside the BOX

AND looks like they learned from the reviews.

Sprint could not get my contacts off my old sprint damaged phone. They saw I had the same second phone for back up I was using. Sterling and Joel put their heads together and came up with a solution using both my phones and transferring the info to their personal phone, then back to my back up phone.

Courteous, upfront with pricing and even were willing to stay after closing to get it done.

got computer repaired at Nerd. within a few days after repair, had the same problem. called and was told to bring it back - no additional charge. took it back, got it repaired, again, and went to pick it up. even though i told them the name of the person who said "no additional charge", i was then told by the manager on duty that another employee cannot tell me that and i'd have to pay again for the same repair (but at a discount rate) before getting my computer back. so, i had to pay again. DISHONEST

Best Place Ever...

They were able to fix and recover my PC when another place I went to couldn't. I am happy with the service and even more that I didn't lose my data! charged me just what they said they would, no hidden Xtra costs like the other place was trying to do to me.

WORSE PLACE EVER!!

I took my iPad to simply have the screen glued in one spot. Week one they said it was ready and when I showed up to pick it up the screen was frozen. No problem so week two I come to pick it up and turn it on and the screen is flickering and it was clicking. I was angry and spoke to someone who I thought was in charge. He assured me that it would be resolved. They call me the next week and tell me it's ready even after I asked ARE YOU SURE? They promised yes. So I show up and the screen does not even turn on. I ask to speak to a manager or owner and there was no one. I ask for a refund and they cannot give one with out the owner who I am currently sitting here and waiting for for over an hour. I even asked if they would please call the owner and they just kept talking to a guy in a closet. Really?! Do not trust these people at all. Completely unprofessional!!

After charging me a total of $...

After charging me a total of $211.09 for doing the same repair twice it still wasn't done & I had to take it in for a 3rd time. They are argumentative, unprofessional & rude. If they had listened to me the first time that the computer was not updating instead of arguing with me the issue would have been avoided. Stay away, because all Dr. Nerd's guarantees is total frustration!

These guys are FANTASTIC! I brought my home made PC in for repair and install a few new components that I would not have time to do myself. Not only was the price excellent and the job fast, but they did a top notch professional job. They cleaned up the wiring and ran virus and spyware scans to make sure I would be pleased...and I am. I don't think I'll go anywhere else in Corpus for repair ever again. Very friendly and knowledgeable. A+!!!!
