Recommended Appetizers:
- Smoked Salmon
- Cornbread (4 pieces per order)
The smoked salmon is just so tasty. Unlike the raw cold thin smoked salmon at the supermarket, this smoked salmon is really salmon with a ton of flavor and super tender. The bread with crouton level crunch factor + the herb aoli is an awesome accompaniment.
The cornbread is unlike any you've ever had. It's buttery, moist, and full of flavor. Definitely a unique experience and something you can't go without ordering.
For an entree:
- Bandera Roasted Chicken
- Bone in Prime Rib
- Sliced Leg of Lamb
You can't go wrong with their Roasted Chicken. It's the juiciest and more flavorful roast chicken you'll ever have. It comes with a healthy side of spanish rice. Soooo good! I usually get mine with a side of Mac and Cheese.
The Bone in Prime Rib is super tender and huge portions like you'd find at Lawry's.
The downsides of Bandera is it's a small place, and the wait can be painfully long. If you've got a party over 4 people expect to wait for a while. Even with reservations, our party of 7 had to wait 30 minutes b/c there are only 2 locations in the whole restaurant that can handle more than 5 people without splitting up the party.
If you don't mind eating at the bar, that's always an option.
The service is good, what you'd expect from a Houston's restaurant, but maybe a little bit less b/c of the businesses of this restaurant.
Definitely try and show up early, b/c it'll take you a while to find parking as well. The top lot is free, but has only about 15-20 spots. The bottom lot has meters and you've got to watch out where you park, if you park on the street. Some of the surrounding community requires permits.
All in all, a place I'd been to many times and will continue to go. Just got to set your expectations right with the wait and some of the hassle.
