So you book a room at a place in Iowa and are told a price online. You drive down there for 6 hours in the rain and arrive late at night with two kids and they tell you the rate is 25 dollars a night higher than what they told you on the phone when you booked. You are given the option of taking the room or heading out into the rain and looking for a room on a weekend where everything is booked. Just wonderful.The place is rundown and dirty..the carpets look like they are 20 years old and moldy. The breakfast is pure sugar(cold cereals and stale pastries) with bad coffee.Head there for the sleeze...it oozes from the foundations of this place.

In the basement of this Arthurian themed hotel, there is a restaurant named The House of Lords. Their specialty is Prime Rib. And I have to say when I lived in Iowa City, this place had the best and most affordable Prime Rib you could find in the area. The restaurant is very comfy with books on the walls and a walkway into the restaurant that leads you over a wood walking bridge and a waterfall. A very unique experience! If I ever make it back thru the midwest, I'd go out of my way to stop here. It's right off the I-80.
