Called Barmore early in the morning, and Scott came out to troubleshoot my water pump problem in less than 1 hour! I paid Scott $170+tax for the pump service call. Subsequently I received a verbal estimate over the phone from Bill Sr. to replace the existing bad Goulds J05853 pump with new Goulds J7 pump (Bill's estimate stated: Goulds J7-$800, installation $500, total $1,300). Checked the price of the ITT-Goulds J7 pump. The pump sells for $320-$460 online. Spoke with Bill Sr. about a lowering the price of the repair. Bill stated on the phone "this is Bull&*^%) and hung up. I was very surprised and disappointed to hear such rude response from Bill Sr.. Will have to look for my pump elsewhere.

I called Barmore on a Saturday morning at 10:00 due to a banging noise in the air tank for the well. Within a half hour they were at my door to diagnose the problem. The man who came out check out the situation and let me know that the pump was starting to wear out (it was 19 years old). He told me that he would get back to me with an estimate. Within 2 hours he came back to my house with a written estimate. I called late on a Monday afternoon to schedule the work. The secretary was very professional and kind and told me that I would be getting a call to schedule the work. By 8:30 Tuesday morning I had a phone call from the owner. The work was completed and I am very satisfied. The gentleman explained the flush out process and let me know about the warranty information that came with the new pump. I cannot say enough nice things about my experience with this company. I would not hesitate to call them again in the future should the need arise.

I called Barmore because I had no well water at all. Thought submersible pump was burnt out. Barmore came within 45 minutes! Diagnosed control panel was out. Repaired in 1 hour and then did a full inspection and testing. Very fair price and professional!!! Highly recommend. My parents used them 35+ yrs ago and they were fair then too!!

I recently had my pump changed by these guys. There is a reason these guys have been in the business forever they did a very neat job!! They handled me breathing down their necks asking questions the whole way through the job. Well worth the money for a quality product installed properly.

Although I am very sorry that ...

Although I am very sorry that this customer is dissatisfied, I strongly disagree with his accusations! The owner of this company is 75 years old and he has been working here since he was 16 years old. I feel certain he is the most knowledgeable person in his field. We often credit customers the fee for the original visit if they have the work done by us. If the customer waits a long time to order the job or it is a relatively small job, we do not refund the cost of the original service call. We do not refuse to give estimates; we do give written estimates. We take emergency calls first. People that have no water, elderly, and families with newborns or young children always take priority. Sometimes a customer will get bumped from the schedule to accommodate an emergency. Our customers are very loyal have been with us for decades. They understand this is how we schedule. We come out at night, weekends and holidays if you need us. My boss has spent hours on the phone explaining how do something yourself if you need help and can’t afford a service call. He has financed work for people who couldn’t afford it and taken a loss on jobs for people that couldn’t afford to pay. We almost always get to you the same day you call, but never longer than 24 to 48 hours. If you have a big job it may take us several weeks to get you on the schedule because we have to get permits and order parts. There may be a longer wait during severe weather events. I can give you the names of HUNDREDS of customers that will rave about our service. Also, I can name dozens of our fellow tradesmen that regard us very highly and refer us to their customers. We have a long standing relationship with the local and county-wide municipalities that depend upon us for service. I venture to guess there is barely a business or residence in Rockland County that hasn’t received some kind of excellent service from Barmore Pump & Electric Company. If you have any doubts about our service just ask around. We are the best in the business and we have the recommendations to back it up! Thank you.

Not true to their word

Dear fellow customers,

I called Barmore plumbing looking for an estimate. There was a $135 service fee just to come and look at the problem and give a recommendation. However, I was told that if I went with them for the service I would receive that service fee off of the cost of the work. Considering this I decided to have the man come take a look. I asked him if I should pay the $135 now or wait until the work was actually done.

The actual work on the place was very minor less than $400 worth so instead of going with someone else I went with Barmore thinking I would get my $135 back. Now here comes the negative part. I asked for an estimate and a write up before the workman came. I wanted to have it in writing how many hours I was paying for and about my $135 I already paid. Barmore just couldn't come up with any kind of an estimate. 20 days later the workman finally showed to do the job. The bill has no mention of the $135 I already paid and the owner has a sudden loss of memory about the conversation we had several times.

I called the owner to clarify and he interrupted me when I tried to explain what I remembered. He then said he was tired of the conversation. I am simply amazed at how rude he was being. I am an officer in the United States Army and a two time vet. My word is my bond. I have nothing without my integrity and my commitment to serve my country. I wanted the owner to know that I would not fabricate facts. He couldn't be bothered to listen.

I recommend to home owners that they think twice about using Barmore. If they can't remember their conversations and they can't give estimates in writing you are at their mercy when it comes time to do the bill.

Sincerely,

Army Vet
