WIC (Women, Infants and Children Program) is a nutrition education and supplemental food program for women who are pregnant and breast-feeding infants and children up to the age of 5. The programs provide nutritional assessment, counseling and education solutions. It also offers infant formula for infants not breastfed. WIC maintains more than 15 locations in Franklin County in Ohio. It provides vouchers that are used at grocery stores for nutritious foods, including milk, eggs, cheese, cereal, fruit juice and peanut butter. WIC is a program of the Columbus Public Health, which provides clinical, environmental, health promotion and population-based services. Established in 1904, the department is governed by the City of Columbus.
