Buckeye Power is an electricity generation and transmission cooperative. It owns and operates several coal-fired generating units. The cooperative provides electric power to its member-cooperatives. Buckeye Power is linked with more than 600 electric cooperatives throughout the United States in a national alliance called Touchstone Energy. It also offers information on the types of products and services. The cooperative s marketing department promotes the use of new and energy-efficient technologies. Buckeye Power receives transmission services from PJM Interconnection and the Midwest Independent System Operator. It operates a more than 500 megawatt facility. The cooperative is operated by Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, which is owned by several investor-owned electric utilities in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky.
