BeecherHill could improve by getting proper alignment with both parties they service- company and applicant- in terms of the hiring process. When applying for a position, I was represented by Wilson Browning who is currently the Senior Managing Director. My process consisted of an application followed by several virtual interviews and an on-site interview with the company, and everything went smoothly until the end.

I was under the impression that I was being offered the job. In fact, after my final interview I spoke with Wilson, who informed me that the company was interested in hiring me and discussed potential start dates. I followed up with the Beecher Hill team to show appreciation following my on-site interviews, and Wilson responded back saying We connected with the hiring manager who shared she very much enjoyed your visit and would like to begin discussing offer terms that would help you be even further excited to join the team. We had follow up calls to discuss my current compensation and benefits with intentions to generate an offer letter from the company. I was also informed that a likely start date would be June 10th or the 17th at the latest.

Hearing that my start date was a month away, I saw the need to secure a place to live to make my transition to Ohio seamless. That weekend I was able to find an apartment, apply and sign a lease the following week. The following week approached and I did not receive any offer letter, and I reached out the hiring manager to check on the status on the offer letter. The hiring manager told me that she would connect with HR the next day and hope to have an offer letter by that Wednesday.

All was going well until my call with Wilson regarding a course correction that delayed my offer. Wilson informed me that the Director of Sales position (which would have been my manager) had not yet been filled, thus putting a hold on my hiring process. When I questioned Wilson on whether I had the job or not, his words were You have not been offered a job...officially. I realized that I was in a very awkward position since I had already signed a lease and my lease at the time was set to end at the end of the month.

After two weeks of radio silence from BeecherHill, I was informed that the position I applied for had been given to a third party agency. With a new lease in Columbus and an expiring lease where I lived at the time- I was devastated to hear that the hiring process was all for nothing. I understood that with the Director position not yet being filled that I would not be able to report to that position. However, Ive seen plenty of occasions where companies worked around obstacles similar to this, such as reporting to someone else in the interim. My interview process was an opportunity for BeecherHill to go above and beyond for the talent they represent. However, when things went awry with the hiring process they did not they express any concern with prematurely sharing news about the job or even with helping me find another position.

My experience with BeecherHill taught me that a verbal offer is not enough. Sometimes course corrections happen and above and beyond service is great, but it does not happen every time unfortunately. This process also taught me that great service is nice, but not required. To anyone considering BeecherHill in the future- you can expect good service unless you need them to go the extra mile for you, which in that case youre on your own.
