This was my first time boarding my baby boy, and I am so glad I boarded him at wescott acres! He was all smiles when I picked him up today. Philip and the rest of the staff are so sweet and accommodated my sweet boy who likes to chew. Thank you all for giving my big, sweet boy a great weekend!

I have used the services at Wescott for the past 8 years, including grooming, daycare and boarding. Five years ago we moved an hour away but have continued to use Wescott. The employees are extremely caring and respectful but most importantly I have peace of mind that my dog will be well taken care of during his stay. Laura, the owner, will go above and beyond to make sure your pet is happy and comfortable. This is the only pet facility I will use.

I am a volunteer for a rescue. An unfortunate incident occurred to a fosters dogs while they were out of town. A couple of dogs had been injured and needed a place to heal until contact was made with foster/owner. The vet contacted Wescott Acres and they took them in and nursed them back to health. The owner did not know if or where payment was coming from but took the injured dogs in anyway. It is rare these days to find any professional that will put the dogs need in front of money. I have never used them before but I am so thrilled with the character of the owner and her staff. When the dogs where picked up they were well cared for and injuries were already starting to heal. Thank you so much!

i wrote a review the last two years and i will continue to write one every year on this day...because the people of Columbia deserve to know the truth about where they take their pets. You probably think they are being supervised and watched, because thats what we thought too, but they aren't. don't believe me? we lost our dog their when it was attacked by another dog. autopsy results showed the dog had been left unattended for at least 30 minutes and died from injuries. if they had been supervising or watching like their business claims, then this would not have happened. don't go here. don't trust them.

They only care about the $$. Very sad. Dropped pet off with feeding/care instructions. They did NOT do any of it! On top of that, they did not feed my pet enough food. They only gave them half. Basically starving my pet ! I checked the amount given to Wescott Acres before and after pickup. Even asked if there was any problems. Was told everything went perfectly. There was an extra item put in the kennel with my pet that was NOT animal approved or approved by me which could have seriously injured my pet. When confronting them about this; I was told, "It's not my fault, it must have been the morning caregiver that did it". If you love your pet, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE!!!! They don't even deserve one star, but you have to mark one in order to put the review.

As Thanksgiving is approaching, please do not board your dog here. I have experienced it first hand. The business is all about presentation and customer service and not about the animals. Laura is very good at putting on a fake face and tricking you that you animal is going to be well taken care of, but don't fall for it. She is a snake. Please know that during Thanksgiving week, most of the "waiting list" is called to come in and dogs are placed together without the parents consent. Also, usually there is a sign to please say goodbye to your pet in the lobby. Ever wonder what that is about? It is because your dog does not have a room yet or is going to be placed with another dog without your knowledge. If you do happen to demand to go back, you will see many dogs in crates because Laura cares more about renting out the rescue rooms for money, then the comfort of the dogs. When you do demand to go back, your dog is placed in a temporary room most of the time and soon after you leave he/she is moved either outside or to a crate. Also, something to think about should you board your dog here for Thanksgiving. Usually around Thanksgiving there are about 300 animals being cared for by a total of 4-6 caregivers. They are usually there only for 4 hours per shift. You will see more customer care or receptionist then actual people caring for your pet. You do the math.. with that many animals and so few people and time.. Do you really think your animal is getting playtime? There are only around 15 playgrounds. Do you really think they have time to take your animal on a 30min "nature walk" or sit in the room for "hugs & kisses" for 15-30mins? The answer is no. It is a scam to make you pay for stuff that your dog never receives. ($10-$15 dollars here and there) You may ask for pictures to feel reassured, but please know it takes 1 min to fake that picture. Like I said, I have experienced all this first hand. What Laura says sounds nice.. but it is in no way possible. I know way to many horror stories about dogs that have stayed at Wescott that parents of these dogs do not even know. All I ask is that you be safe with your pets and do not trust a snake in the grass.

Wescott help me by taking a stray dog in when no other rescue would. Every member of the staff I spoke with was extremely nice and helpful and seemed knowledgeable. Laura was extremely nice, sweet, and very accommodating. The facility itself when I dropped the dog off was well kept and very clean, there was no smell that usually is associated with a boarding kennel. Not sure what I would have done had they not stepped up and taken this dog in and I am truly grateful to them.

Wescott is the ONLY place I board my cats and dogs, as I have done for over a decade. I can assure you any negative reviews are histrionic, exaggerated and unsubstantiated.

This pet resort is the trifecta excellent, compassionate, and attentive care for dogs and cats while owners must be away from them for short or extended periods of time. I have known Laura Mitchell since we were children. Her dedication to animals is profound and absolute. I have been reliant on Wescott Acres to take care of my two pampered standard poodles for ten years! My two poodles stay in the luxury suites which are replete with all the comforts of home (beds, chairs, tv, lamps, raised food bowls...) so that I never have to worry about them stressing out.

Wescott Acres (a.k.a. to my dogs as "Camp") staff are always friendly and willing to accommodate my many special requests regarding food, exercise options, and how to recognize personality traits of my dogs. It is a relief to know that my dogs are happy and well looked after while we are away. Camp offers outdoor romping areas or walks on a leash. Sometimes my dogs are able to play with their other poodle buddies if they are being boarded at the same time. I am an overprotective mother who has strict expectations of those who will be responsible for the care of my canine children. I bring a cadre of bedding, toys, food, chilly vests or coats, towels, and treats which the staff understand are important to preserve a routine for my dogs and happily execute my instructions. I am grateful to Laura and her wonderful staff for providing a safe harbor for my dogs where they can thrive. When I arrive to pick them up, they are exhausted from having such a great time.

I highly recommend that you visit Wescott Acres to discuss the many boarding options that they offer. You will be impressed and relieved that there is such a wonderful place to board your precious pets.

Does anyone know how i can get in touch with someone from the rescue?

Does anyone know how i can get in touch with someone from the rescue? I've left several messages and even tried calling the resort side. I haven't received a call back and it's been several days. My neighbors moved and left their cat behind. I really don't want to let him die out here or take him where he will be euthanized. How do I speak to an actual person soon??

FOREVER GRATEFUL AND APPRECIATIVE!!!

I am deeply humbled by the generosity and compassion of my new family at Wescott Acres. There are no words to adequately express my appreciation for the love, support, and hospitality they have extended my sweet, Lab, Jasper.

Jasper has been separated from our family for nearly 4 years; but thanks to Laura and the team at Wescott Acres (and a couple of other amazing people), Jasper was found due to his microchip and rescued.

Since my family now lives across the country, Jasper is being cared for and loved on at Wescott Acres until he is well enough to make the cross-country journey to be reunited with our family. Because of the unusual circumstances involved - Laura, at Wescott Acres, extended a heartfelt offer to board Jasper in a safe, loving environment where he could rest and get more healthy - out of the goodness of her heart. So, Jasper is staying in a gorgeous, luxury suite (the St. Martin Luxury Villa) until he is ready to travel 2000 miles home.

This is a dream come true that wouldn't have been possible without the compassionate souls that I've met throughout this journey. Laura's whole team has been so fabulous and amazing during this entire time. I have received photos, text, and phone updates every step of the way. Wescott Acres is clearly a professional, responsible, and caring facility that is operated by kind, good-hearted, animal loving people. In all my world travels, I have never been so impressed with the good will of strangers... that have become family.

I will never be able to repay Wescott Acres for taking such great care of my 11-year old baby :) Thank you, Laura and team at Wescott Acres, from the bottom of my heart!

I'm personally upset by all the DRAMA going on in these reviews. I adopted my dog, Max, from their pet rescue operation two years ago. He is the sweetest most loving dog in the world and the only place I trust to board him when I go out of town is at Wescott. The entire premises is wired with cameras so there's nothing shady or any dogs being mistreated. If you want your dog to have a safe place to stay while you're out of town then go to Wescott. You won't regret it.

Hi, my name is Carol. I've worked at Wescott Acres for almost 11 years. I know Laura and her family personally. I also know how she cares for all her pets, that includes the pets being boarded at her resort. She also cares for her customers (pet's owners) and all her employees. She helps people take care of their vet bills without regard to payment and has helped many people out (including employees in many different ways). It is unfortunate that this "Kessler", "Dana", "Linda B" and "Pandabals" have resorted to such hideous and obnoxious allegation because they were dismissed from their employment at Wescott for not meeting the high standards that Laura has for all employees in care of the pets that stay there. It's a shame that adolescent behavior can turn out to be so malicious.

My dogs go daily for daycare as well as board at Wescott. I LOVE having a safe place for my babies and know they are loved a cared for while I am gone. The oldest of my dogs is afraid of storms, being alone, and being caged. She has done awesome there and loves the staff as much as I do. My youngest is a rescue from Wescott. I highly recommend them if you are looking for boarding, daycare, grooming, or a new best friend!

I left my dogs there over Thanks giving holidays and got them back (after a supposed bath and nail trim) smelling worse then they ever have in their lives and the one dogs nails bleeding. I had to bathe them when I got home because they are house dogs and the smell was unbearable. Never again!!!!!!!!

Having witnessed a dog's leg being torn off by another dog and a cat killed by a dog, I would say this is THE WORST place you could bring your pet(s). It is also extremely unclean and unfit for your pet. Not to mention Laura Mitchell (the owner) is the most deceiving, backstabbing, and most unappreciative person you will probably ever meet. She sets her employees up for failure and blatantly lies to customers about...everything. Laura Mitchell is the definition of sleazy. I highly recommend you to not ever bring your pet to Wescott. You risk your pets health and life while also risking your wallet and dignity.

LOVE WESCOTT!!

I have taken my dogs here for two years and hate to leave it now that we are moving. Everyone is so friendly and cares so much about the dogs. They know my dogs by name when I just give them my name. I had to kennel them on short notice when I went into labor and Laura, the owner, had someone meet me after hours so I could drop them off. This is a WONDERFUL place to board your pets, take them for doggy daycare (mine love it), and even get your dog groomed. It truly is a full-service place for all of your dog's needs. I wish I could take them with me when we move!

that when they cancel on you it is ok to.. our groomer quit, she broke a leg and another time she broke her arm and gave us short notice after my wife had taken the day off already so she lost a days pay, but if you cancel on theme as we have had to do (JUST 1 TIME) due to my wife having a 104 temp we were told that we had to prepay from now on, where dose it say that if you cancel an apt on short notice that you must prepay from then on, also we were told that they had to turn other customers away for an appointment since we had one for 4 dogs, well oops sorry but good business practice would be to call those customers back and say (here it comes, pay attention to this and you will learn a small aspect about running a business) WE HAD A CANCELATION WOULD YOU STILL LIKE TO BRING YOUR DOG IN, like any other business including Doctors office would do, but no the owner felt she should take it out on us, we have been involved with this place for 10yrs and have adopted 2 rescue dogs from them and don't think we should be treated this way, we were willing to try again and made an appointment to have our dogs groomed again, made an appointment 2days ago, was confirmed, and less than an hr ago they called and said we had to prepay. once again we get less than 24hrs notice, great job wescott, hope you can find this review useful.

yLAURA THACKSTON MITCHELL IS THE MOST HONEST, DEDICATED ANIMAL LOVER I AHVE EVER SEEN. I WOULD TRUST HER 100% WITH ANYTHINI HAD AND LOVED. NOT ONLY IS SHE A SMART BUISNESS WOMAN BUT DEDICATED TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I HAVE SEEN HER TAKE A SICK DOG HOME WITH HER AT NIGHT AND ACTUALLY SLEEP WITH IT OR A NERVOUS OWNER THAT LEFT HER PET FOR THE FIRST TIME. WHOM EVER WOULD SAY A NEGATIVE THING ABOUT THIS FINE LADY HAS PROBLEMS ELSE WHERE.

Since I am going out of town t...

Since I am going out of town this weekend, I asked a friend of mine if she would recommend any boarders in Columbia. She has dogs, horses, and rabbits, and I figured she'd know a good place for my pup. She said that she refuses to board animals for any reason anymore because her bunnies were killed by dogs while in the care of Wescott Acres. I was horrified. I cannot attest to Wescott Acres' ability to keep dogs, but definitely don't trust them with animals that may be prey for dogs.
