Great location great workouts

Great gym! Very clean, started coming here a while ago when I moved to Columbia SC. The Group Exercise classes are great, very motivational. My work schedule is ridiculous so whenever I have the time I stop in, always look forward to the classes. I always try to make time for the Wednesday afternoon lessons the classes always kick my butt. Plus, this gym is super clean, y'all are really on top of keeping the equipment fresh and that is awesome.

Love this place. I was hesitant to go it first. Wife talked me into getting a personal trainer. I've had him for six months and have seen phenomenal gains!

Pivotal offers month-to-month contract/gym memberships. On the contract you sign, it clearly provides succinct steps one must comply with in order to cancel that membership. You must send a dated and certified letter w/receipt (that is sent to your local gym) wherein you provide indicates your membership ID/account #, your name, and the date you wish to cancel. You must get that certified mail receipt signed and returned. Depending on when that letter is posted/received/signed for, your membership will take no more than 30 days to process your cancellation request.

However, at this St. Andrews location, the contractual terms are disregarded. The elusive Ops manager (Christine Cavalerri) feels she can override legal contracts by making members appear before her for an 'exit interview' before she 'grants' your cancellation. This is not legal nor part of the contract.

I submitted cancellation following my contractual guidelines that the certified mailed receipt was documented 10 days before the May 16th M-fee was collected. By June, 16th, another M-fee was collected and when I called to check the status of my cancellation request, I was told they are withholding it until I can find a way to meet with their elusive/incognito Ops manager BEFORE they will accept my cancellation request.

No dice. I paid another $20 (so I'm out the June fee they were not entitled to plus this $20 for a total of $40 plus the $8 certified mail receipt) to put a stop payment with my bank. I invite them to illicit a negative credit report or pursue payment further because I WILL take them to court for skirting the contract. This has been a hassle and mark my words -- I will NEVER do business with this entity again ANYWHERE I live after this disregard for legal contract terms and obligations. These gyms whine when members don't follow their contractual obligations and then they treat their long-term customers w/solid payment history like this???? I recommend anyone take their business elsewhere because whether it's a 2-yr contract or a M2M contract, they will NOT allow you out of your contract based on the terms spelled out therein without a hassle.

worst $20 i have spent in my life, i couldnt wait for the month to be over.. the staff is horrible, a lot of their cardio machines are always out of service, their cardio cinema room has 1 working treadmill, filthy locker rooms, the sauna stays room temp, they have personal trainers that are either fat or old and not qualified, the list goes on. on a brighter note, for 25$ i joined golds gym the same day i quit pivotal and it is 1000 times better than pivotal. golds gym has a sauna that works, steam room, pool, basketball court, racket court, modern cardio equipment and weights, clean locker room and REAL personal trainers along with a friendly staff. please, save yourself the time and money and avoid pivotal at all costs.

On May 10 of this year which was 3 days prior to my billing date I called to cancel my month to month agreement. I did not receive a call back until after they had charged my card again at which time they gave me the name of their billing company and told me I had to take it up with them. After talking to their billing company and making it known to the G.M., Assistant Manager, and the billing company they did not cancel it the month to month contract even then. After having been charged another month and giving them several hours to call me back I went to the facility. At which time, I was told that the GM was not there when he was after being told over the phone the Assist. mgr wasn't there and he was. I finally had to get law enforcement involved to get what I asked them to do to get done which was cancel my account. They still refuse to refund any of the money they overcharged me and I ended up having to get my debit card cancelled by my bank in order to insure that this unscrupulous company did not bill my account again.

After avoiding gyms completely...

After avoiding gyms completely for 6 years and creating some pretty terrible perceptions of everyone and everything at the gym, I was asked by a friend to try a group fitness class at one of Pivotal Fitness's Open Houses. I went reluctantly and with a chip on my shoulder. When I left class that day I felt pumped up, alive, and ready to do anything. Since that first class I have participated in various RPM classes, Boot Camp, Zumba classes, and of course Lisa's phenomenal Cardio Strength class, and I LOVE each one. All the trainers are unbelievable at what they do, the staff are fantastic, all the member are like family, and the management is out of this world. There are not too many places I feel motivated by that passion of the people that work there, but I do at Pivotal Fitness. Thank you Pivotal Fitness Staff and Lisa for all you do!

I have never went out of my wa...

I have never went out of my way to write a review about ANYTHING so you know this place must be awesome. After only being a member there for 7 months and having to move back home, this place would be the only reason why I would consider staying.

After having my second child and gaining over 30 lbs. (2 years ago) I had been struggling to lose the weight. I had tried EVERY diet, I had even bought EVERY workout DVD but no luck. While running track and playing tennis from middle school through college I thought I knew everything about how to lose weight and be fit but not until this moment in my life did I break down and tell my husband I needed some advice because it was obvious that I did not know what to do. Although it took me a lot of thinking and trying to convince my husband (military man), I invested in a personal trainer at Pivotal Fitness and I can say that the money spent was WELL worth it. Within 6 weeks I lost 30 lbs with the help of Vassil :-). My metabolism is back on track and I have kept the weight off (although I dont go 5-6 a week anymore because of being so busy with school and moving). I must say I worked my behind off but it was honestly the motivation I had along with the different workouts that Vassil had set for me to do and the food that I ate. He gave me master food list and I strictly stuck to that (with giving myself little breaks on the weekend :-)). Although Vassil's knowledge was a huge part of my success, I made it my business to participate in many of their group fitness classes they offer. They have such an array of classes throughout the day that I never seemed to get bored. I truly enjoyed this gym to the fullest along with all the welcoming faces and smiles.

Oh let me not forget to mention their childcare services that are free to members. MY SON USE TO BEG ME TO GO WORK OUT EVERYDAY. LOL

But all in all I can honestly say that this is the best gym that I have ever been too. I am going to miss coming here.
