Located in Columbia, Mo., the Boone County Jail is a part of the Boone County Sheriff's Office, which is a law enforcement agency that prevents loss of lives, injuries and property damage. It supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. The sheriff s office performs a variety of duties that includes patrolling more than 680 square miles area of the county, responding to calls for service from the citizens and investigating reported crimes. The Boone County Sheriff's Office is also responsible for serving all criminal warrants and civil process papers issued to the department from the 13th Judicial Circuit Court.
