Established in 1972, Oakland Mills Middle School provides academic classes to more than 450 students in grades six through eight. It offers various special programs, such as alternative education, jazz band, after-school academic achievement, student government and theatrical production. Oakland Mills Middle School has a staff of counselors, reading specialists, instructional assistants, health service workers and more than 45 classroom teachers. The school s core curriculum includes English as a Second Language, math, science, social studies, art and physical; education. It is a part of Howard County Public School System, which also operates more than 70 elementary, middle, high and special schools. Oakland Mills Middle School is located in Columbia, Md.
