The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Detention Bureau operates two detention facilities that handle all aspects of inmate processing from intake to release. These facilities are the Criminal Justice Center and the Metro Detention Facility. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Detention Bureau is committed to community oriented policing and reducing recidivism to provide for a safer community. As part of its service to the community, the Detention Bureau is accredited by two separate entities for its operations. Both the Criminal Justice Center and the Metro Detention Facility are accredited by the American Correctional Association. The support services that the bureau s facilities provide include transportation, classification, court security, civil service, warrant services, medical, dental, laundry and food service. The bureau s headquarters is located in Colorado Springs, Colo.
