I WILL NEVER USE THIS STORAGE ...

I WILL NEVER USE THIS STORAGE FACILITY AGAIN!!!! When I made the choice to rent a unit, I was assured that the company protected your items from bugs, rats, etc. I was also informed that they required a $25 dollar deposit in case of damage to the unit or lock replacement. They then informed me that upon vacating, all I needed to do was give the unit a light sweeping, turn in my lock and key, and within two weeks I would have my deposit back. However, after I vacated, and removed my things, over half of my items were infested with bugs. Almost all of my boxes had evidence of mice chewing through and living inside of them. The bottom of my couch and love seat had been torn into and you could hear the mice feces rolling around in my furniture when we moved it. I contacted the company about the damages, and they refused to take any responsibility. I accepted my loses and just forgot about it. However, my last straw came after waiting a month, and I had not received my deposit. Upon calling them they stated they were not going to refund my deposit, because they found miscellaneous trash in my unit. My movers made it a point to sweep out the unit for me. When I stated these facts, they still refused to refund my deposit. When I asked why someone had not contacted me regarding this matter, they stated it was in my contract that they did not have to do it. So, I sat around waiting for a deposit that was never coming. They are very unprofessional. They seem to offer competitive prices, but when you actually realize they do not offer the services they claim they do, you realize you are wasting your money. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!

In response to this online complaint, Mini-Max Storage and U-Haul thoroughly investigates all customer complaints and grievances. This particular customer’s review of their experience is unfortunate. We have been in business for over 35 years and have never had an issue with any type of animal or insect infestation. In fact, we pride ourselves as being one the cleanest storage facilities in the area. Every unit is thoroughly cleaned and inspected before and after each rental. Our maintenance staff hand scrubs the walls, sweeps the floors, removes any visible stains and then sprays the unit with insect repellant. We also install/replace rodent repellants each time a unit is vacated. This procedure has been extremely effective over the years. As I’ve said, we have never had an ongoing issue with rodents or insect infestation. In this particular case, the renter informed us that her unit was infested with mice and bugs. This revelation came to light after two years of continuous occupancy. We were not made aware that this situation existed until after the fact. There were no signs during her rental term that such a problem existed. If our staff had been made aware of the situation, corrective action would have been initiated. Also in support of the fact that no infestation was present, each of the surrounding units was immediately and thoroughly inspected and found to be free of any evidence or signs indicative of an ongoing problem. It is unfortunate that our good reputation is being attacked. Upon final inspection of the unit at the time it was vacated by the renter, it was found to not have been cleaned and swept out sufficiently to garner the return of the deposit. This is clearly stated in the contract rental agreement. The renter was supposed to be notified immediately that the deposit would be withheld. In this case, the manager failed to properly follow the company’s guidelines requiring a timely notification. This error has been dealt with accordingly, and should never happen again.
