Coachella Valley Water District is a public agency that provides irrigation water and agricultural drainage, domestic water, wastewater treatment and recycled water, regional storm water protection, groundwater management and water conservation across an area of 1,000-square-miles, primarily in Riverside County but also in portions of Imperial and San Diego counties in California. Coachella routinely evaluates and updates security and water quality measures to assure that healthful drinking water is available to all its urban water users. Unlike most large urban areas, Coachella has no open domestic water reservoirs. All domestic water the district serves is pumped from deep wells into sealed systems for delivery. Coachella s employees move mountains of dirt to form groundwater recharge basins at Windy Point. Its groundwater recharge program is fundamental to insuring the Coachella Valley's future water supply.
