In June of 2017, I thought I was going to be cremating my best friend in the whole world, Doug Thomson, and taking him home in a jar. He was in and out of hospitals all summer, spiraling downward. In September, he checked out of the hospital and signed up with hospice after telling a vascular team that he didn't want one or both of his legs amputated. Somehow we connected with Dr. Yasir Akhtar who is truly a wonderful and gifted physician. He referred us to the wound center here. Doug had 18 venous ulcers all together that were not healing and we battled infections for months. The staff was incredible here! They care, they listen and remember. That resulted in better care for Doug. He was in so much pain that he could barely walk. I've changed his bandages every day since August and what a huge difference the team here has made. Susan Teffeteller NP handled someone who can be a difficult patient so smoothly that he wanted to go back and that alone is amazing. She was thorough in covering all the bases, making phone calls and working late. After rounds of antibiotics, debridement weekly and twenty some hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatments about half of his ulcers are gone, the rest are shrinking and healing and pain levels are way down. Doug had angioplasty done in one leg in November and the other in December. But we would not be on this path at all if it wasn't for the people at this wound center. Along with their medical knowledge they dispense valuable doses of hope and encouragement. Thank you ,from the bottom of my heart, Dr. Akhtar, Susan, Melissa, Patrick and Charlie and the rest of the crew out there!

This staff is great, friendly, helpful, everyone has taken great care in keeping my pain levels as slight as possible. My hats off to everyone who has cared for me, Lea, Melissa, Patrice, Marta, Charlie, Dr. Walt, Dr.Susan and anybody else I didn't meet but helps the Center !
