Initially serving only 1,877 customers, the Clinton Utilities Board (CUB) in Clinton, Tenn., was founded in 1939. Today, CUB distributes electric service to more than 28,000 customers in six Tennessee counties (Anderson, Campbell, Knox, Morgan, Roane and Union) and four Tennessee municipalities (Clinton, Lake City, Norris and Oliver Springs). CUB purchases wholesale power from the Tennessee Valley Authority. It provides the necessary facilities to distribute electric service to more than 1,400 miles of high voltage circuitry to its customers. Clinton Utilities Board also provides water service to nearly 6,000 customers and sewer services to more than 4,000 customers in the City of Clinton and the Claxton community. It has been recognized as having the best overall water treatment plant of its size in Tennessee.

In every situation where I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with this mess they have done the absolute minimum possible to get by. Their crews are nothing more than inept, lazy cupcakes who will declare than any job they need to do is "not their responsibility" And this is if you can get past the lazy arrogant bum working the phone.

It's a shame that they are protected by the city charter and therefore don't actually have to be good at their job or even do it to stay in business.

Arrogant, incompetent, inept, indifferent, sub-standard. This pretty much sums up Clinton Utilities Board. By far the worst excuse for a utility company I have ever dealt with. They relocated their lines on our road and had a chance to put a little effort into it and work with the home owners and locate their poles in the right of ways at the edges of the property or in the open field between the neighborhood homes. Instead, their incompetent engineering department went to great effort to place a pole in almost every homes front yard, and in my case, in a location that created a hazardous blind spot when pulling out of our driveway. The morons at CUB couldn't have cared less. Guess that's what happens when their "engineers" (for lack of a better word) graduate bottom of their class at no-name colleges. Giving them one star only because zero wasn't an option.

Worst power company I've ever had to deal with

With their extra fees, bad service, and rude employees, they are by far the WORST company in my experience. They just sent an old man out to put something on my door and charged me $20 for this visit as if I don't already know I'm past due. What a way to make it worse for people who are struggling. If they would have just waited 1 day, I was waiting to get paid so I could pay the bill!

CUB wanted $375 down just to turn on electricity due to our credit. Come to find out they have a new program that you can pay as you go. This program only required $40 down. So we chose it. In order to save money we cut our breaker completely off because we weren't living in the house for another month. I checked our balance and somehow we had used $15 in 10 days with no one there. When I called they explained to me that there is a "minimum" due every day. The minimum every day added up over a month comes out to $47.10. How's that for fair! Almost $50 and ZERO USAGE!! Shame on you CUB!

Worthless company doesn't care about anyone's situation during these hard times. Also, they charge you to come out and put a tag on your door they make enough money to that service free!

Let me tell you if you want good service you better move to another county. I paid my deposit 2 weeks ago trying to get electric hooked up to my new home every time I'd call them they would come up with another reason why they had to put me off, always an excuse.
