I am very happy with the staff and feel that the therapy department is good and has helped me. I would definitely recommend this facility.

I found the staff always greeting me when they pass me. I found the room I had clean and serviced everyday. I also found the nursing staff pleasant and willing to assist me for the duration of my stay. The food was good, a little small portioned sometimes, but then I realized the kitched was following schedule. I have been to different assisted living locations in the area and this one should be a grade A.

I think this place is one of the worst nursing homes and no wonder why they don't allow you to leave reviews on this page. I would never recommend this place to anyone ever!! My Grandma was there until her last days and I regretted every choosing this place. Please don't waste your time! Check into other places if you want your loved ones truly cared for in the right way!!! And to make things even worse you have to watch the nurses who think its OK to steal from their patients. Sad sad place

Many years of living can take it toll on a human body. That is where therapy can help, not to remake, but to rejuvenate and help heal the wear and tear. That’s what I experienced at Southern Hills. There were demands I had to meet, some I didn't realize until completed. The staff was helpful, yet demanding. I honestly feel better and stronger as a result of all my therapy at Southern Hills.

As for the nurses and nursing assistants I think they have been extremely nice and courteous in my complete stay!! The therapy department has shown me ways to come back to be able to go home and things that I will help me at home plus some small exercises to help me complete my come back to the best of my abilities! The complete therapy staff has been kind and courteous and successful to get me to understand the progress to my recovery in the right way.

I am a 59 year old woman who was diagnosed with M.S. 12 years ago. One Sunday while watching T.V. I felt this overwhelming weakness in my body and my usual chronic pain level shot up. I asked to go to the emergency room knowing I would need steroids to pump myself up. What happened next was a whirlwind. By the time I reached the E.R. I coulnd't move either arm, lift my head and could barely move my legs. Things then escalated quickly and I was admitted to Southwest Hospital where I spent the next 5 days. I was then told that nothing more medically could be done and that I would be transferred to a nursing home for rehab. I freaked!!! I had never been admitted to a nursing home but my mom passed away in one due to a fall that caused a hemorrhage in the brain. All I knew of nursing homes was they are filled with elderly who are sick, have dementia, are dying and that most never come out once admitted. I was terrified! I was taken to Southern Hills Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center at night. Talk about scary. I had to ring for an aide every hour or so because I was so nervous. Then I woke up in the morning after finally getting a few hours sleep and saw that I had a very nice room with a view of a very pretty courtyard. I could have visitors 24 hours a day, even my dogs. I have been here almost a month now and I can tell you my care has been wonderful. The aides, nurses and the entire staff are very good at what they do and very friendly. Their physical, occupational and voice therapists are the best. I have made much progress due to them and hope to be going home soon. I attribute my progress not only to their expertise, but to their friendliness and their ability to make it fun. If you need any kind of rehab, don't be afraid, just call Southern Hills and you will be in good hands. They even allowed my Bible study group of 9 to come every Wednesday morning. They gave us our own room to meet in, set up tables and chairs for us and even supplied carafes of coffee. Although all of the staff have been great; you have 3 exceptional nurses: Mattie, Katie and Heather.

My sincere thanks for all the respectful, attentive and skilled care you gave to my mom in her ten days there at Southern Hills. She said to me daily, "everyone is so nice here", and she was right!

I would like to say that all of the staff at Southern Hills has been very good to me. Also very efficient. My progression here at Southern has been due to the therapy dept. My stay at Southern has been very good and I can say that I would recommend Southern Hills to anyone that would need placement in a facility.

I found my eight month stay at Southern Hills amicable considering the fact I had four different physical conditions at various times that required different remedies to defeat these particular illnesses. Recovery and therapy for back surgery (infection), C-DIFF (diarrhea), dialysis (short term) -knee operation and more therapy. The nurses and aides are consistent and helpful through all ailments. The administrator also took time to go over paperwork-type problems and other types of problems that arose ocassionally. The therapists were a congenial lot, but pushed me to strain myself to overcome my ailments. All in all OK! I did enter into certain activities that I liked -bingo -trivia -Wii bowling etc

While staying at Southern Hills Nursing Home on Bagley Road, I was pleasantly surprised of the good care me and my surrounding patients received on a timely and friendly manner. I can attest to this because my wife and I worked at one of the largest nursing homes in the area some ten years ago for two winters. I thought they were good when we worked until I was a patient at Southern Hills. At that time I discovered the true meaning of great care ad people working hard together to accomplish a good end result of care to the patients.

We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU from our family to your tireless work on our mother's medical case. She came under your care from a long run of illnesses at the hospital and was very sick. Because of you she has slowly improved through all that nastiness. We are all adjusting to her new prognosis and hope to give her a good quality of life with the time she has. Rachel, your efforts and commitment to solving our mom's medical problems means so much to all of us. Thank you is hardly enough!

I am leaving for home today after three months. My wound is healed thanks to the excellent nursing care that I received. I am walking out with aid of a walker. This is possible because of my physical and occupational therapy. The therapists are great. Nursing assistants are all friendly and helpful and I thank them all. The meals here are tasteful and beautifully served. My stay was as pleasant as is possible away from home. Thank you all!

The Delay the Disease exercise program has been an exceptional program for those with Parkinson’s’ Disease. Not only the exercises but the social interaction is a plus for all attendees. My husband has shown improvement primarily in his balance and seldom falls anymore. He is encouraged to try his best doing the exercises by all the therapists. He continues to do some of the exercises at home. I highly recommend this program
