Clev Clinic ER (Emergency) Not Recommended

The Cleveland Clinic is rated the No. 4 hospital in the US by the leading rating authority, US News & World Reports.

However, US News does not rate Emergency Rooms.

If it did, Cleveland Clinic would not be in the top 50.

In recent experiences, the Cleveland Clinic ER was:

Dirty: ER physician did not wash his hands. Nurse applied mildewed bandange to a severe cut. The facility is old and dirty -- filthy walls in the examining rooms.

Careless: The emergency room was in a state of bedlam, not because of pressure from patients, but because the physician in charge had totally abdicated. There was an Animal House atmosphere of nusers partying at the nurses station, so loud that the examining physician couldn't communicate with the patient.

Incompetent, uncaring physician. The attending "physician" refused treatment to the patient, and the patient had to go else where, where he did receive treatment. The patient did not listen well (and the noise of partying nurses he was supposed to be supervising made it difficult anyway) and had the poorest bedside manner I have ever seen.

Nurses: Party animals who did not know better than to give me a bandage that was mildewed (dirty) and to give me shots in both arms at the same time.

Grossly overpriced: This ripoff place charges $800 for 20 minutes in a filthy examination room.

Long wait: You will be seen sooner, by more qualified physicians and nurses, if you go to an urgent care facility in Cleveland or to another hospital.

Warning: If you do go to this ER, be prepared to fill out a survey questionaire about their services and to rate them 1 on a scale of 10.
