I want to thank Kelly for always being supportive and honest along my long horse hunting journey. After dealing with other people in the business, she has been a breath of fresh air to say the least. Kelly worked with me and my family for well over a year until we found the perfect addition to our family. Her honesty is what I appreciate about her most of all. Instead of selling me a horse that wouldn't fit in our lives, she would be the one telling me "no, that horse won't work for you". She could have easily made a quick sell. She welcomed my vet to perform the PPE and gave me a trial period of 30 days to make sure everything was good. Kelly and her husband brought my horse to me quickly and walked around my facility to make sure he was found a good home. I've NEVER had someone care enough to do that. This spoke volumes to me. They also ask for frequent updates still to this day! My horse was better than I could have imagined and my vet agrees that I truly have a unicorn. He was well worth the wait. If you are looking for a horse, Kelly is honest, accommodating, kind, communicative, and hard working. I will forever be a customer of hers buying or selling.

Total rip off. Horse bucked bad like a rodeo Broncos of course their add said kid safe grand ma ridden trail horse risen in 3 states. No she wasn't. Now they advertise under kRJ2012. Same people just had to many bad reviews I guess.

Purchased 2 horses May 2021 from Texas Best Performance horses. Horses were glowingly advertised as capable ranch horses also suitable for kids. Just what I needed. Neither horse was suitable but the worst was a beautiful well-bred well broke mare that was lame upon arrival. After finally receiving her papers we had an equine lameness specialist veterinarian do X-rays and she was diagnosed with chronic founder. Spent lots of time and money trying to make these horses work but was a futile effort- sold them both at a local horse sale March 2022 at great loss. The lame mare went for pound price. Texas Best Performance horses not coming forth with any kind of adjustment. Have nothing personal against these folks -this is just a business review. They do not generally deal in quality horses. You may find your perfect horse with these folks but understand you may not and they will not make it right. Would not recommend doing business with this outfit. Have heard they also advertise under KRJ2012.

Very nice people! The horse I purchased turned out even better than represented! I use him for EVERYTHING on the ranch. Very pleased and I will be back to buy a few more!

I was looking for a beginner pony for the little ones. Found one from Kelly that seemed like a good fit. I did the research and read the reviews (pos. & neg.). Very Leary of purchasing one from so far away(I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). We talked on the phone a couple of times and I felt satisfied with her explanations & her knowledge. I ended up getting two ponies from Kelly and couldn’t have been happier with everything! She was very accommodating, kept them until our snow melted, set up affordable & excellent transport and was very honest & respectful. I would definitely go back to her.

I have made 2 purchases from Kelly, one being a pony and the other a horse, and have been extremely happy with both. They have a wonderful facility and beautiful horses that are well taken care. I would recommend them to anyone.

We purchased 2 horses on 2 seperate occasions and were satisfied both times. Horses were bought sight unseen solely off videos and what I was told. Horses were as good if not better that expected. The pony we purchased is worth her weight in gold, I've never seen or been around a better pony!

Kelly was nothing but a pleasure to work with. I bought 2 different horses from her at 2 different times and they were exactly what she stated (and still are). Do you people not request videos? Because any horse savy person would know over a video. We talked multiple times on the phone. Never had issues contacting her, sent money on the horses and they were shipped in a timely manner by a transporter arranged by her. She had all coggins and get check done for me, I was contacted by the vet via FaceTime during the check and all was well. He told me everything (even the “bad”) completely honest! I know people that have worked for her in the past and things stated are not true what so ever. I have been to her facilities and tried horses there as well. So I’m completely happy with my purchase and if I purchase again I will do so through them !

Thank you for your review MacyW. It made my day! I believe every word you wrote. I bought 2 horses from Kelly, (well, I bought one, returned it, could only trade for another). It took her over 6 months to find me another horse. After I returned the 1st horse, she disappeared from contact. She ignored all of my efforts to contact her, and only would respond when my tone became threatening. I kept finding potentially suitable horses on her website, but she'd say "Oh you can't have him, he's a consignment horse. He's not mine to trade!" So, prospect after prospect kept getting knocked off my list bc of this response. Finally I took a trade off of her PLUS ANOTHER $2500, just so that I could GET SOMETHING out of her. I KNEW I was throwing good money after bad, but I really had no choice. She would NOT make an even trade on the first $7500 horse. I ended up spending just over $11,000 (on horses and transport) getting 2 horses from Kelly. She would agree to pay for transport but then would claim she had no money for it AS THE HORSE TRANSPORTER sat in her front yard waiting for a horse. So, I had to promise him via phone call that I would pay him on my end. It took 3 mos of threatening texts to get my transport $ back from her, which she paid in dribblets of cash, at a time. Funny! I had to pay it all up front, but she could only pay me in little portions! What?!?! She NEVER met her payment date, until I hassled the crap out of her. I wrote her a bad review finally and she IMMEDIATELY contacted me (!!) and whined about my review. I took it down, just so that I could some additional money back from her. The second horse was supposed to be a 10 yr old; a board cert equine vet dentist said he was between 18-20 yrs old. Kelly "felt so badly" that she promised to return a $1000. That was about 10 mos ago. I got $200 or 300 of it from her (can't remember) and that's it. I'm sure about 10 minutes after this posts she'll contact me, though I haven't heard from her or received a payment in eons. I got really screwed by this lady. Again, MacyW, "I hear ya!" I am sorry for both of our experiences. I ended up giving the 2nd horse away. Unfortunately, both horses and all my experiences with Texas Worst Performance Horses have been very costly, aggravating and disappointing!! The last horse had such an AHOLE attitude that 2 trainers just looked at me and rolled their eyes after working with him. And that was aggravating too: to have to pay trainers to work with horses that were supposed to be "super broke". Both horses arrived underweight and covered in bot larva. Kelly promised to have one horse shod before shipping - nope! Of course, I got some bologna excuse about that too...like her farrier was hit by a train or something (Ok - not really - but close!). She's very creative. She can make all kinds of excuses to you about everything. In the end, she just screws you out of your $ and sends you, what I expect is a horse that she bought from the kill-pen and sold as a FAMILY BROKE HORSE! Both of the horses I got from her were JERKS with M-A-J-O-R attitudes, they were both major head tossers and had "hard mouths"! In reading MacyW's review, now I know why!! Kelly knew I was looking for a horse to use on my drill team. Both horses were kicked off the team after 2 practices, each. The first just refused to perform and tossed his head and ran backwards; the second started BODY SLAMMING the other drill team horses. It was freaking amazing! Don't buy from this lady. I contacted EquineNow and Ranchworldads and told them how I had been scammed by her. Ranchworld never responded to me and EquineNow, though concerned, couldn't do anything about it bc the listing of the first horse had been taken down (well, yeah, bc I bought him!) and consequently, couldn't provide them with a listing ad number, and the second horse was never listed by them so they couldn't pursue any action. Stay far away for Texas Worst Performance Horses and Kelly Johnson.

Buyer Beware! Here are the facts on this place: She double sells horses. She (Kelly Johnson > https://www.mylife.com/kelly-johnson/e105126098010) had a 2006 lawsuit under under the name Kelly Frost d.b.s. Frost Farms, for selling a wild horse saying "had no bad habits or vice, nice enough to raise a fancy show baby, great disposition, loves people and is ‘super broke,'”. Horses are smacked around; I watched one cute paint tied getting shot 50+ times with a BB gun by the horse trainer. I saw several horses mouths bleeding after being yanked around. She uses straight bleach to clean horses, and will spray bleach into open wounds trying to treat the fungus going around this barn. Horses are trained with ridiculously harsh bits- one setup used frequently is an inch wide strip of of steel welded onto 6 1/2 inch shanks. One horse I was around every day who would try to buck and kick in the stall is advertised as "sane, safe and gentle for most everyone". Watched them try to sell a pony with two rides on it who I'd seen buck as "kid safe". Her employees also use cocaine and other drugs and are drunk even when customers are around. She has been selling horses under multiple names and multiple business.
I know all of these things because I worked at this joke of a barn for a short time. Everything above I witnessed first-hand. She treats her employees like trash and never pays on time or at all because she's out of money. She stills owes us $400 for the 12-hour days we worked for her at the wages her hiring ad agreed, but we'll never get our money nor our time back. I went into her bank to cash the small amount she did pay, and HER BANKER told me she's got a sketchy reputation around town too, and she comes in the bank for money she doesn't have demanding her horses need fed.
FORM YOUR OWN OPINION ABOUT THIS PLACE, this is just what I know firsthand. Hopefully the next person doesn't get screwed over the way I did

Buyer beware
Do not buy horses sight un seen off of her word
Make sure coggins matches horse before taking the horse. And do not send money to hold a horse.
If stated to be a kids horse do not take anyone's word.
