The KnowledgeWorks Foundation was established in 1998 as a charitable organization through the reorganization of Student Loan Funding Corporation. With an endowment of approximately $200 million, the foundation is one of the largest education philanthropy systems in Ohio. The KnowledgeWorks Foundation provides funding and focuses on redesigning urban high schools and enhancing workforce education throughout the United States. It develops and provides various educational programs. The foundation conducts research in the areas of adult learning, community involvement and high schools. The KnowledgeWorks Foundation has compiled more than 100 pieces of education-related data and statistics for the state of education in Ohio. The foundation encourages and supports communities to engage in the planning and design of new school facilities. It also supports the development of tools and resources.
