When went to the showroom in chicopee, and the selection was far from good. We basically were told to pick out what door we wanted, what color we wanted , what type of wood wanted. If you look at a piece of wood u have know idea what the quality is, what it's going to look like in a kitchen. I'm not a cabinet expert,so with that being said I had no idea what I was even looking at, because it was never explained. With that being said we were told the owner would come out, measure, and give us a estimate, that was 6 weeks ago. He never even called us back. We just wanted an estimate, and I guess that was to much to ask for. Save yourself the headache and stay away from this guy, totally unprofessional.

Ideal Kitchens did a sloppy job of installing and venting a bath fan, causing condensation to form around the fan after showers and refused to fix it

Ideal Kitchens did a very sloppy job of installing and venting a bath fan and patching a ceiling. It caused a problem with condensation.

Last summer Ideal Kitchens did some renovations in our bathroom, including installing and venting a new bath fan and patching a ceiling. In autumn, when it started to get cold, we began to have a problem with condensation forming around the bath fan after we showered.

Ideal sent someone. We asked him to check if there was fiberglass insulation around the fan box. He said that the fan box had not been insulated. He put in some fiberglass insulation, but not enough. The problem improved a little but condensation still formed, especially if we took showers back to back. The same person was scheduled to come a second time but never showed up.

Ideal sent someone else. We asked him to check the insulation and how well the joints were sealed. He refused to go in the attic. We tried to explain to him that condensation forms where moist bathroom air meets cool attic or outdoor air. Any leaks in the joints or exposed areas of the fan box are where this is likely to occur. He said those things would not cause condensation. He suggested we might have a leak in the roof. We don't understand how he correlated post shower condensation with a leak in the roof? It's so absurd. He treated us with disdain. It was very upsetting.

We decided to go into the attic and do the work ourselves. When we did the repairs we noticed several problems with their work, potential sources of condensation (see photos at http://businessfinder.masslive.com/ideal-kitchen-cabinet-fronts-chicopee-ma.html or Angie's List.

1 The opening in the ceiling for the fan box was too large.

2 The fan box was not insulated tightly with fiberglass the way it is supposed to be.

3 There was no elbow used to attach the duct to the fan box.

4 The tape used to seal the duct to the fan and to the vent was not the proper tape and it was coming loose.

5 The duct was not insulated.

6 The vent was not caulked.

Besides that we were shocked to find the ceiling had been patched with an improperly sized piece of drywall and attached with a rotting piece of wood. They offered us $150 but that does not seem adequate to reimburse the fan work and patching of the ceiling. We decided to try conflict resolution through Angie's list.

About a week later we found out our cat was dying of cancer. We were too sad and overwhelmed to be bothered with conflict resolution. We told them of our situation and that we would settle for the $150. The owner said he had to think about it and would get back to us by the end of the week but never did.

We showed photos of their work to other home renovators. They all agree the work was very poorly done. One contractor laughed out loud at the use of the rotting wood board. They also said that $150 for venting and installing a fan and patching a ceiling is not a realistic estimate, that it should cost between $300-400.

We wound up trying conflict resolution through Angie's List. Apparently no one at Ideal understands how condensation forms. They still suggest it was a leak in the roof. Since we did the repairs we have not had a problem with condensation. They didn't address the photos and they made several false claims, like that they sent three people to address the issue when they only sent two. One of them refused to go into the attic.

Courteous and Professional

I had my kitchen countertops done by Ideal Kitchens. I wasn't sure if they would do just a countertop, but their courteous and professional staff made my job seem just as important as a $100,000 gourmet kitchen. My materials were ordered on time and the installation (which was only two weeks after I signed my contract) was quick and problem free. The installers, Doug and Matt, were very polite and did not hesitate to answer any questions I had during their time at my home. They also cleaned up every step of the way so I did not have to worry about dust and debris. I have a very steep stairwell and was originally concerned the new countertop would either damage my walls when brought in, or they wouldn't be able to bring it up at all. Not only did Doug and Matt figure it out, I had no damage to my doorways or walls. My countertop is absolutely beautiful. Ideal Kitchens went above and beyond my expectations, and not only would I use them again, my neighbors are getting their kitchen completely done over! Thanks Ideal Kitchens for such a wonderful and pleasant experience. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any one!
