This would be a nice place to pick up some minor items when you don't have time go to a major grocery store, but unfortunately every one is treated like a criminal when they walk in the door.

I walked in with an EMPTY, FOLDED cloth shopping bag and instead of greeting me at the door with a hello, the first thing I hear is someone speaking to me on a MICROPHONE and loud overhead speakers instructing me to check my EMPTY, FOLDED cloth bag at the counter! Huh? For some strange reason, the large, open, messenger back that was draped across my shoulder was of no concern despite how much easier it would be shoplift with since I'm assuming that's why they wanted me to check an EMPTY, FOLDED shopping bag.

If that's not weird enough, I walked right down the street to another grocer with the same bag only it was open and had items in it and was draped across my shoulder and the owner actually opened the door for me and greeted me when I came in. They didn't say a word about the bag because they have the intelligence to recognize a loyal customer when one walks through the door.

I won't be going to The Unit again. I guess I'll just have to keep giving Mariano's and Whole Foods my money. When you yell at someone over a loud speaker to check an EMPTY FOLDED bag at the counter, you're letting the whole store know how prejudiced you are about the community.

You really need to pay more attention to who comes into your establishment and treat them accordingly. Assuming that everyone is going to rob you is just poor customer service.
