All of the units are studios in various sizes. Nicely kept, awkwardly arranged. No counter tops or sensibly placed kitchen drawers. Large enough to have a small table and chairs. The landlady began to put in Murphy beds to avoid bed bug problems.

This was the worst rental ever for me in over 30 years, due to tenant and landlady/owner behavior.

A man and his girlfriend did crack and screamed incessantly across the hall for months before he was finally evicted for nonpayment of rent. He and another tenant knocked on my door regularly to borrow money.

Landlady/owner is very gruff. She raised the agreed upon, advertised rent to $30 more, after confirming the rental amount while inside the unit, insisting upon a 2 year lease.

The landlady/owner would regularly stop by the back door, tapping on the window. Got so bad had to ask her to call first, but it got worse. Finally resorted to keeping the shades down on the back window and door to avoid her peering in - but she tapped on the windows anyway.

From the lower units, you can hear her barking at the unfortunates who work for her. She also uses a walkie talkie, making matters much worse during spring, summer and fall months.

Lake Michigan is one block away across Sheridan. During the day it seems safe, but somewhat ghetto on weekends and holidays.

Noise off Sheridan absolutely terrible. Never stops. Even with closed windows, you can hear the buses, cars and people 24/7. The heavy traffic begins around 4 am on weekdays. Crazies walk the streets at nite, shouting at all hours.

Sketchy at night. Was also followed up Pratt toward Sheridan during the day. Pratt and Clark McDonald's experienced a shoot out during the day in 2014.

Sandwiched between Loyola and Morse Red Line el. 155 bus stops in front of the building. 147 Congress bus goes express to Michigan Ave. from Foster on Lake Shore Drive. The 147 and 155 Kedzie buses don't run very late at night.

Finally, the landlady/owner shorted me $5 on the $50 cash key deposit fee she demanded, without any prior notice before lease signing. If you considering living in this building, take a unit as far away from the landlady/owner as possible - and up high enough to avoid all the incessant noise.
