So my brother was running a temp of 105 to 107the past 36 hrs and he didn't even want o go to the hospital. We kept giving him Tylenol and Motrin and it wasn't working. Now I'm an ICU nurse and I've worked in community hospitals but currently work at Rush. I love community hospitals but this one really angered me. Not only was the receptionist at the urgent care unwelcoming but she definitely was not helpful. My brother has BCBS HMO and yes a lot of places don't take it but she didn't even bother asking if it was PPO. She literally was like "No we can't see him bc his insurance is only good at UIC." I was like well we'll pay out of pocket it doesn't matter. To which she said "We can't see him bc I would still need to put in his insurance." Does that make sense to anyone?!! It's an urgent care and it shouldn't matter bc i also said I would pay out of pocket!!! I mean it was bad enough having to convince him to go and this was mind you the second place we've gone where they refused us. The first place was lawndale Christian health center. Now for a country who is in serious debt with heath care costs and that's why they even created urgent care and immediate care clinics was to keep people out of the ERs and this is what happens?!!! Is it me or do some urgent care and immediate care clinics have problems caring for the people in their community if they HAVE insurance. It looks like people have to be in Medicaid or Medicare to be seen in their community. And yet those who pay for their insurance are getting screwed over. I'm never recommending anyone to go to Norwegian. As a health care professional and constituentim extremely dissatisfied with their constumer service and their policies.

Incompetent staff

Stay away from this hospital. They will screw up your insurance and this will make you loose money. Aside from being extremely incompetent, they are also the rudest people I have ever met. This is why some people avoid going to the hospital. Not because they like being sick, but because they would rather suffer with illness, and pain, rather than go to this hospital. When they screwed up my insurance, and I called them about it, they hung up on me repeatedly. Not one of the "customer service reps" who answered would give me their names, and when I told one of the I would report this behavior to her supervisor, she stated " well, I guess you'll just have to do that" then hung up on me. Once again, unless you want to pay for things that your insurance should, and will cover, stay away from this hospital. For the record, this business deserves a negative rating, I was unable to submit my review without giving it 1 star.
