We recently moved/downsized to a condominium in Chicago and contacted MIR Apraisal Services to appraise several pieces of antique furniture and rugs, silver, a painting, and other items. MIR, in the person of Farhad (the owner) and Robert, responded promptly and courteously to our request. They were thorough and knowledgeable and provided invaluable and reassuring assistance to us throughout the difficult and stressful process of deciding what to take with us to our new home and how to dispose of those items that we were unable to accommodate.On the initial visit to look over what we had, Farhad identified a small rug and an oil painting that he felt deserved further examination. We accepted his recommendation that they be restored and cleaned and then appraised. Both turned out to be of some value and now have a prominent location in our new home. Without Farhad's intervention, we would probably have donated them to a local charity and been none the wiser for the treasures we had.We were extremely pleased and satisfied with MIR and recommend them without reservation.

During the process Mr. Radfar suggested exploring restorative possibilities regarding an antique portrait in the family to correct poorly executed past preservation strategies. The solution proved to be reasonably priced and dramatically effective in reviving the painting’s energy and presence, and significantly increased our appreciation for this piece of art.Mr. Radfar and staff were courteous, competent, and reliable as well as highly professional. I needed a piece of artwork appraised and found MIR Appraisals online. Everyone there was as helpful and professional as their website. I had three paintings on consignment with MIR and very dissappointed in how they managed the consignment process. On one painting they did costly restoration work relative to the prices received. Additionally, after reading what they had in the artists bio I informed them that they failed to capture important facts about the artist - and the picture sold shortly after they made my recommended changes. The other two paintings on consignment with MIR sold for a fraction of what they sold for a short time later. In addition, there are false statements made regarding the p[ictures ownership!

Mir Appraisal did a fantastic job on a appraisal consultation for me. When I arrived at their location I was greeted warmly and felt right at home. I never used one of these services and was a little nervous and hesitant at first, but realized I had made the right decision. They gave me a wealth of information on my item that I would have never been able to do on my own. The fee was very small for the amount of research they did for me. I worked with MIR several months back, regarding a my mother's estate which included various paintings, lithographs and jewelry. Mr. Radfar and his staff were always friendly and professional in addition to being sensitive to my loss. At MIR Appraisal Services, Inc., we have several researchers working in our office, but senior appraisers never answer the phone. Our staff is complimented on a regular basis for our polite phone etiquette and customer service skills. In fact, most people are surprised by how efficiently we answer calls during business hours. If this review is not written by a competitor, then why no name? And, why twice? Our prices are fair and even on the lower end compared to many other personal property appraisers. As far as being unprofessional on the phone, you can call for yourself without mentioning this matter and decide for yourself.MIR Appraisal Services, Inc.
