Stay away! All the reviews that warn of this place are correct. I discovered an oil leak and first took my car to Jiffy Lube, who made mention of my car being in superb condition; however, they were not equipped to fix the oil leak, so my boyfriend took it to the nearest place available, which Jiffy Lube recommended. Unfortunately, for me, that was M and R Import Services.



Once I received the $1200 dollar estimate to fix both an oil leak from the rear main seal and an oil leak from the side axle seal. I suspected I was being overcharged so I called a mechanic whom I trusted and he told me he would fix it for $400-500 less than they were charging me. When I called M and R to try to retrieve my car before they repaired it, I was told me they were going to have to charge me $350 because they had already disassembled the car (though no repairs had been done at this point). In order to save time, and because I was already out $350 and would now only be saving $50-150 to move my car to another mechanic, I decided to let M and R fix it. What a mistake! The day after I received my car, it began shaking when I reached 60mph. In addition to the shaking, the engine has lost significant power (it's a VR6 Jetta) I returned it to them and told them that there must be a tire balancing issue or an alignment issue from when they took my car apart. They declared it was something entirely new, provided me with an additional $800 estimate, and, yet, wouldn't bother telling me what was wrong with my car.



My car was running smoothly when I took it in, and is now a wobbling mess. Prior to taking it to M and R, it had never had the shakes, so for it to shake the day after having it fixed, as well as having significant less engine power, and then for them to tell me that these car problems are new and in no way related to their repairs, suggests that they intentionally screwed with my car in order to ply me for more money. If you don't want to be overcharged and have your car tinkered with so that it needs additional repairs, you should avoid this place. Please don't get ripped off like I did.

M&R has rejuvenated my Land Rover Discovery. They were fast and very honest about letting me know of the problems I had with SUV. They also provided me with options and suggestions on the best way to handle issues. I tried going to different places before because "it was cheaper" and found that these places didn't provide the quality of work that Mike and his staff at M&R has. I highly recommend M&R for European vehicle owners!

I recently moved to Chicago and was in search for qualified service station. I was in luck because I found a business card on my car, Mini Cooper S. Honestly i was a bit hesitant given this company reviews. But i gave them a shot and they sure didn't disappoint! If your seeking an honest dependable repair facility with great customer service, I highly recommend this shop. Their labor rate was better by 25% from any local dealership. My vehicle was clean, properly repaired & they even took my car to the State Smog Test for me. I also noticed that they inspected all my tires pressure, & even refilled my extra washer fluid container in my trunk. Every detail counts, at least for me. It was a pleasure doing business with this independent shop. Needless to say I have and will continue to recommend friends to M&R.
