We contracted with Grand Iron Work last summer and it was one problem after another. Their on-site staff were for the most part a mess. We hired them to build us a deck extension to our back second level porch and to repaint our front and back stairs/balcony. A couple of the workers either broke some of our property (flower pots, plants, etc) or made huge paint/concrete messes all around the house. The installation of the deck was horrible. It was clear while the owner, Israel Guzman, suggested the option of composite decking for materials neither he nor his staff really know how to install it. We caught staff using nails to put it down, even though the materials clearly say you use the brand clips for installation not nails as this will negate the warranty. When we confronted them as to the problems they always had excuses and promises to do better and it took multiple trips before they finished (the first time). After the installation we kept finding things they had done wrong (lose boards, unpainted railings) or messes (errant paint, spilled concrete) and when we called to report the problems they would come out and half repair what was wrong. Finally at the end of the summer (this process with them started in the end of June) they promised to come back if the paint job didn't hold up over the winter (which was our concern as we began to see problems since we determined they hadn't used primer in all the places they painted). Well, surprise, the paint job didn't hold up and boards on the deck are still loose. We have tried to contact the company for some sort of remedy to the mess they have left behind. We will unfortunately probably need to pursue legal action to get some thing done. I'd suggest looking else where for a contractor.
