Avoid this company like the plague! Shame on WGN-AM for advertising this business. Let's begin with day 1: I asked Deck Tech to come out and provide me with an estimate. The appointment time was 12pm. I arrived at my house at 12:01pm and the estimator/sales agent (Rachel J) was no where to be found. The sales agent had come to my house 20 mins early and conducted her evaluation in my absence and left. I was NOT afforded no opportunity to ask her any questions regarding my service. I called her up after arriving home, and she told me that she had left already and would E-mail me an estimate.

Upon receiving my "non-detailed and vague" written estimate, I spoke with Rachel J who failed to mention to me there there is a cut off deadline for customers who want to have their decks done before the winter cut off. In fact, Rachel had the audacity to call me on 10/15/13 to follow up with me and ask if I wanted to have Deck Tech stain my deck . I returned Rachel's call the following day and was told they would not be able to help me out til Spring 2014, because of weather they cut off making any more appointments. So this brings forth two questions:

1. Why does Deck tech continue to advertise on WGN to "get your deck ready for winter" when they are NOT willing to provide their service until Spring 2013?

2. What kind of training do these salesmen/saleswomen get from Deck Teck? Why do they not bother to tell their potential customers that there is a DEADLINE involved?

At no time in the conversation was a deadline mentioned in Rachel's Phone call of 10/15/2013 or in the written estimate.

Today 10/17/13 I spoke with the Deck Teck Sales manager Reed T. This guy is a piece of work. A very condescending individual. Mr Reed did admit that I should have been informed by his sales agent that a deadline would be involved. I was NOT informed. A major flaw

If you cannot trust a company during the "estimate" stage of a project, there is not way I would trust them with working on my deck. This company is dishonest, they talk down to you and I'm ashamed that WGN Radio, who is a very respectable radio station, has chosen to allow a company of this nature to advertise with them.

DO NOT HIRE DECK TECK, a big disappointment!
