I can't say anything about the gym itself as I have never used it. This review is limited to the financial and contractual end of the business.

My girlfriend joined just under a year ago, but rarely went there, so we went in to cancel the membership. You have to fill out a form and then send it to their finance company, ABC Financial, there is no way to cancel the membership on site. ABC will not cancel the membership for 30 more days after your request, and will continue to bill you. Then they told us they would also still charge us 49.99 for their yearly "Price Lock" fee since she would still be a member past one year, since they will not cancel out the membership for the said 30 days.

When I called and talked to ABC about the 49.99 fee, they said I would have to talk to the management at Blast, and when I went to Blast they said I needed to talk to the people at ABC Finance. The second time I called ABC I got a supervisor who basically said we were screwed, and that was that.

Admittedly this is all in the contract, and a careful reading would make it quite obvious this is all set up to take advantage of people who enroll without doing their due diligence.

Nonetheless, it's a jacking plain and simple. While 50 bucks is not a great deal of money, the cavalier attitude and lack of any sort of customer service does not bode well for any other services they offer either, so I would strongly recommend NOT doing business with these people.

FRAUD!

I had a similar experience with this manager and membership. Do not give this guy or facility your credit card! They make it practically impossible for you to cancel. I had to cancel my credit card in order to make this horrible experience and monthly charges go away. Their finance department will say that they are a 3rd party entity and deny any power to refund. Blast Fitness is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau and has a C+ rating. SUCH A SCAM!

Fraudulent charges - unscrupulous local Irving Park manager.

In January 2013, I took a tour of Blast Fitness' new Irving Park location at the following address: 6615 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60634. They took my credit card information and signature. I am an immigrant and cannot read English. However, they had no problem taking my information and not explaining what took place. I received a $19.99 charge on 03/2013 which I disputed and promptly signed a cancellation form with that location's manager. I replaced my credit card and received a new card account number at that time. This company found my new credit card account number and charged my credit card a total of $60 in December 2013. Again, the manager denies remembering my original cancellation and refuses to refund those charges. I signed another cancellation form and it remains to be seen if this company will find my new credit card number, which I had to replace again, and continue to make fraudulent charges.
