The owner (Cesar) and son (Julio) came out to my home several times and worked really hard at earning my business. They answered all my questions, replied to my phone calls promptly and made the experience seemingly positive. That is until after the installation process was over. It took a total of 4 days and after it was complete (roughly 4 months ago) and he was PAID, I began seeing problems with the bricks and the installation itself.

First, he installed the bricks too high, which left the bricks too high and a 1 inch GAP between my foundation and the actual bricks. When it rains, the water sits in this GAP and the odor begins to enter my family room (NOT a good smell). Also, there are numerous areas on the paver installation that are not slanted AWAY from the house, which has resulted in several areas where rain is collected. I have since had 2 certified Unilock installers come out and survey the land with lasers, thus proving that Azteca's work was poor. Also, Cesar used poor sand and every time it rains, the sand vacates/leaves the space in between the bricks and there are big spaces in between. Also, Cesar did a terrible job of nailing in all the plastic trim along the perimeter of the installation, which has resulted in the bricks moving. Lastly, Cesar (operated the Bobcat machine) damaged a number of window ledges, an outlet and gutters along the perimeter of the house. I should note that Cesar claims to be UNILOCK certified on Angie's List, Yelp and Yahoo Business, but I have spoken to several people in UNILOCK that stated (Territory manager in person who came to my house, and an email from another manager) that he is NOT UNILOCK certified. False advertisement!! He also advertises that he's Unilock certified on his shirts, vehicles and pamphlet (I have all of these as evidence).

What I thought what would a positive experience turned out to be the worst, and Cesar repeatedly changes his explanations and conversations in order to avoid having to do any work. I finally spoke with him and despite me being very patient, he continues to refuse to fix the problems (I have a 5 YEAR warranty on the work and labor), and he almost always HANGS UP the phone.

I have politely asked him and his son repeatedly in the past few months to try and solve this amicably. However, it seems that the nicer I am the more dismissive and rude Cesar has become. I'm hoping to avoid retaining a lawyer to resolve this issue, but I'm not ruling it out in the end. I should note that I have opened up complaints with the BBB, Lisa Madigan's office and the Village of Glenview (Cesar didn't request a final inspection and when I requested it, the entire project did NOT pass). I have all of the documentation in order and ready for my day on court if I don't receive a full reimbursement.
