I've been to this place on and off when needed for roughly 4 to 5 yrs. They claim to treat birds and in Chicago it is difficult to find a bird vet. Every bird I had taken to them died.The last time, I had fancy pidgon whos belly was swollen and Dr. Byron de la Navarre (the owner, was the one I saw every time) told me she had reproductive problems and I was sold expensive meds and was told to keep her in the dark 18 hrs a day to calm her cycle down. She just kept getting more and more swollen till she couldn't stand and I call and spoke to Tracey (his wife) who told me just to keep doing what he had told me and to wait. She was indifferent also, but I took my bird then to another vet who said she needed an operation RIGHT AWAY and he open her up and there were numerous cancerous tumors weighing her down so she couldn't stand. She made it thru the surgery but passed away about 1 wk later. This place is all about making a buck and Dr del la Narrave doesn't even try to fake caring. When I went to visit another bird that was hospitalized there the seed that was with her was crawing with bugs-it was very obvious but no one noticed till I pointed it out. It somehow gave me the impression that it was not a clean place in the back and I wouldn't put it past them to reuse needles from one animal to someone elses. This was the 4th bird I had taken there---not knowing where else in Chicago to take a bird, and of course they call birds exoctics and they can charge more money. That would be fine if he were an avian vet but he is NOT despite telling me how he keeps up with all the lastest data on birds and goes to the latest seminars etc etc. I guess that is why all my birds died with him even knowing WHY.I've always paid him in full but looking back I could kick myself esp re: this last bird, about 6 mos ago that passed away and they never had the time to give a follow up call to see how things were going. 'Jacobin', my lil bird died because he so totally misdiagnosed her and she would have had more then a fighting chance if he maybe had done more tests or whatever was needed to find out what was wrong--I mentioned about birds gettings cancerous tumors but he said that he thought that the reproductive organs were the problem.In hindsight I don't think he knew how to do a delicate operation on a pidgon. I feel sad that I did not seek out this other vet sooner instead of trusting a charlatan.I feel sad that my beloved bird died due to Byron del la Narrvare incompetence.Every word of this is the truth and I'm will to take a lie detector test. I despise this place and if u do decide to go there BEWARE!
