I had been treated by my primary doctor for depression, anxiety & high blood pressure for years. Standard thyroid tests came back "normal". A psychiatrist raised my medicine up to double my original dosage. I felt aweful! My husband made the appt with Dr. Cunningham after learning about him from an employee. During my initial exam - he listened intently to me & my husband. He ordered a thorough blood work up & found that my free T3 hormone was at the low end of "normal". He started me on a low dose of thyroid medicine & within 2 days I had energy! I called the office asking if that was possible - the office staff was kind but thought it might be a placebo effect. I'm happy to say that it wasn't! In less than a year, I no longer have or take meds for high blood pressure nor do I take meds for depression (after weaning off them). I feel great now and I only have Dr. Cunningham to thank for it.

Dr. Cunningham is great; I have been going to him for several years now - he is the only doctor I have ever gone to whom I feel actually listens. He found a couple of endocrine issues and I went from being in pain and hurting most of the time to being pain free.

He changed my life.

I suffer from Graves Disease, I am now 52 years old, female. I have been a patient of Dr Cunningham's since 2004. At that time, I had been seeing another doctor for my Graves disease and had been prescribed every possible thyroid medication on the market at that time, I thought. I had ballooned from my normal weight of 125lbs to 154lbs in a matter of 4 weeks. My doctor, at that time, said to continue my meds. Well, to make a long story short, I had every possible symptom of hypothyroidism. No one could seem to help me, I even changed doctors 2 more times without any success whatsoever. So, I did alot of research as far as help with this disease and found Dr. Cunningham who I refer to as my savior. He immediately described to me what symptoms I was having just by looking at me and every one he described was just exactly what I suffered with for many months. He changed my medication to something that was developed back in the 50's and I never felt better. Within 2 months, I was back to my original weight with every symptom I had experienced for so long was at that time gone. I don't know what I will do if/when he retires but he has saved me from many, many months of misery and I could never thank him enough. I have sent many patients to him who have experienced the same positive results to their hormone/thyroid issues. He is the 'BEST' doctor around for these issues and I highly recommend him!

Dr Cunningham saved my life. I had no memory, was freezing cold all the time. I had goose bumps and felt like I was in an ice bath if i ate, my weight went from 114 to 178 in less than a year. I lost little weight on the cytomel, only went down to 164 and am back at 171. I do not got to him for weight loss. I went because I love my children and was tired of being a space cadet, forgeting what tv shows I even liked, much less what happened the day before. My husband divorced me because I was so sick. I love this Dr. The wieght loss junkies, yeah not a fan, but he is a real MD. Everyone else told me I was fine. I dont call having to tape your eye lids open to drive FINE. I dont covert to T4 or what ever the case was. If you are sick, get yelled at you ar fine by other Drs, and are tired of all of the above, go see this man, rude staff or not. He is great. My vit D wasin the teens or low 20's for years, nothing worked. His uritan Pride D3, has me at 50 now. :) I owe this man my life.

The doctor who stated he cares for seriously ill people after Dr. Cunningham is full of it. Dr. E.J. Cunningham is before his time, he is a scientist & incredible physician. He is one of the few who has a heart and is sensitive to your needs & requests. He cares about your overall wellbeing. He will look outside of the box, he has saved my life multiple times. I suffered with gall bladder stones for 4 years. Not one physician would listen to me when I told them where my pain was located & it was the same situation for my mother. Dr. Cunningham was not my primary care, nor an accurate specialist for gall stones. But he listened to me ordered a simple ultrasound which confirmed that my gall bladder was so full of stones it may burst. 4 years multiple physicians, if the pain was not visible according to the book/rule, then patient has problem. Well THANK GOD FOR DR. E.J. CUNNINGHAM - LOVE YOU! YOU ARE INCREDIBLE! JEN K.

I am a physician who regularly takes care of the patients who are seriously ill that he has 'treated'. You do NOT diagnose an underactive thryoid by taking a body temperature. You do it with a blood test. Yes, patients who take the medicines he prescribes DO lose weight, but that is because he overdoses them on thryoid hormone (as well as using stimulants in a way they weren't intended). Iatrogenic hyperthyroidism (meaning overactive thryoid hormone levels caused -typically accidentally - from medicine) is still quite serious. Heart failure, loss of bone density, and seriously elevated blood pressures are possible after effects of his treatment. When patients stop it they feel terrible as well (as their thyroid gland has shut down from the exogenous (or external) use of thyroid hormone). This is a dangerous way to lose weight. Ask your doctor how to lose weight safely.

He is an excellent doctor, who really listens and cares about your overall health. I don't know what I will do when he retires. The office staff has always been helpful and friendly, and they always try to squeeze me if I forget to make an appointment ahead of time. The office staff are not required to give phone consultations to needy people who expect special treatment because they are already on medication.

Dr. Cunningham is great, the ladies who answer the phones... not so much. I have never talked to someone so rude, incompetent, and short in my life.

I was there for the first time in July 2009. The staff was great and Dr. Cunningham was amazing. For the first time in my life, I felt like a doctor was listening and understood exactly what was going on with me and how I was feeling. He's been there. I had to wait for about 30 minutes to see him, but he spent no less than 40 minutes with me explaining everything in detail.

I think Dr. Cunningham is an excellent doctor. Prior to seeing the doctor I was treated for hypothyroidism by a medication that basically did nothing for me. I was finally referred to Dr. Cunningham. He switched my medication, I've lost about 100 pounds and haven't had this much energy since I was a teenager. Dr. Cunninham is very personable and was also very nice to my husband. It looks like my daugher may have some of the same health problems as I. If this turns out to be the case, I hope Dr. Cunningham can take on another patient. As far as his office staff -- Yes there was a time, a little while back, when he had an assistant that mumbled. I could not understand her over the phone and I could not understand her in person. It drove me crazy. But I have not seen her there in a long time.

All new staff as of spring 2009. Great doctor, remembers my husband's name and get this....spends up to 15 minutes with me when I go for my appointment. How many doctor's can you say that about? He's frank and honest, but has a fun attitude so you don't get upset about things. Willing to work with you and your insurance and overall, someone you would keep as your doctor no matter the 1-1/2 hour drive.

I gave Dr. Cunningham a 5 Star rating as I believe he is a great diagnostician. I agree with the other review that his staff sucks. They get a Minus 5. I had to quit going to him because they upset me so much, you have to leave a message, they didn't return calls in a timely fashion (a day or 2 later is not acceptable), there is no human contact until they call you back. It's very sad because I just loved him.
