I chose LA fitness because I got a free 2 weeks membership a while ago. I went to their gyms to test it out and I really liked working out there so from there on I continued to use LA Fitness.

I would give this place no stars at all if possible. Let me start by saying that the sales people lie and lie to get you to sign up. They also pressure you by saying : "oh the rate won't be the same tomorrow if you plan on waiting to sign up". Now why is that? Needless to say, we joined (my boyfriend and I).

We joined together and had a joint account. It was convenient...at first. Then they started changing the rates again. When we initially signed up, we used my boyfriend's debit card (directly linked to checking account like most debit cards). We were told that because we were young (under 21, still in college) and without credit cards that we could pay monthly with cash. Perfect! Except, not so perfect.

Here's where things get heavy. My boyfriend lost his wallet and immediately called up his bank to cancel his debit card. They issued him a new one the same day and some nice, honest person turned in his wallet to a local police station. Anyway, we paid the gym that week in cash at the front desk and thought everything was fine. It apparently wasn't. The next day my boyfriend received a call from LA Fitness telling him his card was declined and that they needed a new one on file. He was stunned because he did not know that they even had his debit card on record. We were not informed that they would automatically be charging us each month since we signed up to pay in cash. (Remember, we're college students we don't want any contracts!) So, my boyfriend tells the woman on the phone I cancelled my card, I don't have it anymore. "Oh ok well can you give us your bank account info please?" My boyfriend lied saying he no longer had an affiliation with a bank and when the lady got pushy, he hung up. These called continued for weeks eventhough we paid our dues in FULL in cash days before they were even due!

Now, let me tell you about the people there: slimy and obnoxious. They are rude, cold and loud. Not only that but the equipment is horrible. Always breaking and never clean. I feel violated by the personal trainers everytime I enter the gym (and I have never even had a session with one before!) It's the way they look at you, so creepy and unnerving.

We continued to pay our bill in cash at the desk and that was never good enough. Every month the same thing happened. "We need a new card on our file." No, this is a no contract gym and you already got our payment! Well, the harrassment hit an all time high when we were actually bothered at the gym itself in front of other members! We were told that we needed a card or bank account on file or we were not allowed into the gym. We were also told that we never paid our membership which we did in full and it was the same ignorant Hispanic woman at the front desk telling us this, who 2 days prior accepted our pay!!!

We are still getting calls and being bothered and we haven't set foot in the gym or paid it in over a month now. I am so happy we did not give them our new bank account information or else we would have been double charged, charged a cancellation fee and declined/lack of payment fee as well. I heard they even continue to charge your credit/debit card after cancellation!

Stay far away from this gym and all gyms really! Nothing but overpriced scams! Hope this review saves some people the abuse we had to endure! I am in the process of contacting better business bureau right now.

Nice staff, reasonable price, and a straightforward month to month rate that was reasonable. Child care and sufficient machines available. We compared this to other gyms in the area (planet fitness and future fitness) and not a bad deal given it has a pool and racquetball courts. Best we found in the cherryhill/haddonfield area.

i have been at this gym for 8 years it use to be nicer but the locker rooms are starting to get run down They are suppose to update the facities but never do. I do like all the space and its close to home.
