I called Carter because I had icing on my coils. I decided to use them based solely on the fact that they had a flat diagnostic fee when other co's had trip charges and hourly fees to do a diagnostic. I told the tech I had already cleaned my coils and had done all the other troubleshooting related to icing. I remodel houses and rarely take someone else's word for anything. After the diagnostic he determined that freon was low and added freon. Problem solved. About 2 months later my children's grandmother had icing on her coils. She lives in a pretty modest neighborhood in E. Brainerd. I recommendeded she call Carter. They came out to do a diagnostic. They conluded that she needed her coil removed and cleaned and that her filter needed to be replaced. They quoted $512 to clean the coil and up to $200 to address the filter. Coil cleaner is $20 and filters are $15. I thought this was outrageous and called Carter to cancel the service call and tell them what I thought of their exploitive pricing. I then called Stan's. Their tech came out to do a diagnostic and determined that the coils were just fine. The problem was a capacitor in the outside unit that needed to be replaced. They charged a total of $125. Problem sovled. Carter would have charged $512 for the coil cleaning and the issue would still not be resolved so they would have eventually found out about the capacitor and gouged a middle class GRANDMOTHER even more on top of the filter. Apparently they have 2 pricing structures--for people like me who know what's up, and for people who don't which they think they can freely take advantage of, even though they can least afford it. This seems to go on alot up here in chattanooga and I don't think Carter should be able to get away with it. It is wrong, immoral, probably illegal, and most definitely unethical and dishonest. I hope this review saves someone's friend or family member from getting ripped off by this pathetic excuse of a company. Have a nice day!

I called many places to get my...

I called many places to get my a/c serviced and either the people answered the phone "hello" and I had to ask if they were the place I was calling or they suggested I go elsewhere because they were too busy (SERIOUSLY...Bill Owens). After a couple of bad experiences with Maximum Heat & Air, I was ready to change. Their techs (Maximum) would not quote me on a repair, but would do the repair and then hand me the bill without quoting me first or asking my approval prior to working.

So I called Carter not knowing what to expect. They answered the phone with the business name and a professional tone. They arranged an appointment for the same day and gave me a time range. She also stated he would call when he was leaving the other job to tell me he would arrive. He arrived right on time.

The tech was friendly, introduced himself and went right to work looking at the system. He was very knowledgeable and didn't try to sell me on anything. He did tell me my unit was very old and probably would need to be replaced. He also mentioned they could quote me a price for the part since they would have to order it first, but it might be Monday before I heard back. I received a call 10 minutes after he left from the office giving me a quote for the part. I will use them when I replace my unit (in the very near future).

Service: A+ , Knowledge: A+; Professionalism: A+. I highly recommend to anyone looking!
