We purchased our home last summer, and the front and back yard were both basically jungles when we moved in (see photos!). My husband and I spent months worth of weekends trying to tame the beast, but it felt like we were just barely scratching the surface. We managed to get everything cut back in the late fall, but we knew spring and summer were coming and it would be a jungle again soon if we didn’t take action.
I contacted MetroGreenscape after we were ghosted by another landscaping company, and Tina was incredibly responsive and got us set up with an appointment for Sean to come out. Sean was early to the appointment, professional, and man, he knows his stuff!
We discussed working in phases as we have a lot of things we need help with to get our yard in shape, and they are completely happy to work with us on that which is awesome.
Sean gave us a quote to clear the front, back, and side yard as well as install some drainage for an area in our front walk that floods when we get more than a sprinkle of rain. We were scheduled for about 2 weeks out.
He and his employees came out here in the morning (on time!), and cleared our entire yard, sprayed to kill all of the ivy and weeds, laid pine straw, and installed the drain in ONE DAY! We are just amazed!
Sean has been incredibly communicative with us before and after, offering ideas and advice for maintenance. It has been just a fantastic experience so far, and we are excited to keep working with Sean, Tina, and the folks at MetroGreenscape to get our yard in shape. I can't wait to see what's next!

Darin was very knowledgeable about all of the potential projects we were looking at for our back yard. He was patient and listened to all of the ideas that we had and then added some of his own thoughts about what he felt would look good and fit in with the neighborhood. We are still in the bidding process currently but he is certainly one of the top 3 contractors that we have met with.

Wow!!! What can I say? I went into MetroGreenScape today to meet with Darin for an interview. Upon arrival, I immediately noticed they had a ring doorbell - which for me meant they were a company cool with technology. Next, as the door opens, I am immediately greeted by their Amazing Director of First Impressions, Tina Collins. She was incredibly friendly and offered water to me while I waited for my appointment. In the lounge, I immediately notice a message on the tv screen tailored just to me - MetroGreenScape proudly welcomes Holly Blumhardt with my company logo on there with their logo. As if that wasn’t enough to already blow me away, there were a million awards and fantastic articles written in major publications with accolades all over the lounge- gave me something to read - as I patiently waited. I really got the sense that Darin and his company truly care about their employees and clients. As I was leaving from the interview, Tina greeted me once again with that amazing smile and said they have a gift for me and gave me a gift bag. The twist was the gift bag was in my favorite color - teal. I had such a busy evening that I didn’t get a chance to actually look inside the bag until I got home at 9:30pm. I peeked in the bag and noticed 2 of my favorites - Reese’s and Skittles - and a few other items I will be able to use this weekend, along with a gift card to Dunkin’ Donuts. To think this is how the company treats a complete stranger, I can only imagine what their customer service and relationships with their clients are like!!!! Kudos to you, Tina, Darin, and MetroGreenScape for giving me a one in a million type experience, a memory I will treasure for a long time, and restoring the faith that there still are companies out there that truly do care about their people. 💜💜💜 ~ Holly

This company was the worst I have ever dealt with in any kind of business. Their customer service, communication skills, and timeliness were absolutely horrible, to the point that it was even detestable.

First, the company has a SERIOUS problem with communicating back to their customers; those that are spending thousands of dollars.

The operations manager (who used to have his own business) is a part of the problem at Metro GreenScape. His deceitfulness is very deplorable. After reading customer complaints from his previous company, I now know why he went out of business.

Additionally, his so-called "supervisor" is a joke! He went back to the office and told the owner that I would not sign the paperwork for the completed job. That was a lie! He never presented any type of paperwork to me to sign for work that should have been completed over a week ago. Furthermore, he stated that he "went out of his way to go to Lowe's to get sprinkler head that was not covering one area." This is called doing his job for something that should have been part of the job in the first place!!

The owner called and accused me of not signing paperwork that the supervisor asked me to sign, yet I told the owner that I was not presented any paperwork at all. Then, the owner started yelling at me, lying and accusing me of being disrespectful to his workers—which was a blatant, outrageous lie and was far from the truth.

This company performed a very poor service of installing an irrigation system in my yard. It took a week for them to finish, whereas other irrigation companies that worked on the yards of my neighbors only took three days to install.

I cancelled the other project for the backyard because of the hostile treatment I received from the people at this company. I would not recommend nor do I advise others who are thinking about going with this company to hire them. Please be wary and do not be fooled if Darin, the owner, comes to your home. This is a part of their sales pitch in order to lure you in, and later you will find it hard to communicate your concerns until it's too late. That is when the disgusting lies and endless run-arounds will begin.

All in all, this company was a $6500.00 learning experience when it came to installing an irrigation system.

I contacted Darren at Metrogreenscape about a problematic steep sloped backyard. He was punctual, professional, walked the property, listened to what I wanted to accomplish and then offered insightful and creative ideas. His knowledge of soil erosion protection, stone, landscape greenery, code and permits was a cut above. He provided an honest cost projection for the project and various options for completing the work in stages. I asked for a one hour consultation and was given much more.

I made an appointment with Stacey from Metro Greenscape for an estimate on a yard clean-up job and she came exactly on time and provided a very professional and detailed cost estimate. I was very impressed by her professionalism and depth of knowledge. I highly recommend Metro Greenscape and their rep Stacey. If you want professional landscape consulting and extraordinairely detailed yard cleanup and landscaping, go with them. They are not the cheapest but you get what you pay for...the bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low prices are forgotten. Gene A. Weddington, NC.

Darin (the owner) came out to our house for a consultation of our back yard that we have done NO work to yet. He spent almost two hours with us, going through every question we had about every little thing. Our goal is to do most of the work ourselves (sweat equity, yey!) so the conversation was centered around that. They will be doing a design for us, and step by step guides on how to implement and build the items we decided on, and they will even help us pick out plants/flowers that fit our needs and style. I really loved the fact that Darin still stuck around to methodically answer all of our questions, even after knowing we were going to do the work ourselves, and that our budget was very small. He is a Charlottean, and started his business from the ground up at 18. He's very knowledgeable and great at what he does. We're so excited to partner with them to make our back yard beautiful!

I contacted Metro Greenscape for a consultation because I really had no idea how to fix my backyard. Before Metro Greenscape came out, I had other landscapers come out to give me some ideas but I didn't really get any real direction. Darin came out for Metro Greenscape and really explained all that was wrong with the backyard and how we should prioritize projects. Darin was very nice and knowledgeable. He was willing to work with me on items I wanted to address. Although I wouldn't be a high price client, I felt he treated me with the up most respect and catered to my needs. I'd recommend this company.

As a previous employee of Metro Greenscape I strongly recommend them to assist with any outdoor project that you might have. I can attest to not only the quality of product they can provide but maybe more importantly the quality of the team they have and customer service they will display. They have a very experienced and well versed team that can assist with any of your outdoor living projects.

Metro Greenscape did plans for our front yard to have several things done in phases. The first phase was to redo the landscaping at our semicircular driveway. They replaced the shrubs with new shrubs, annuals and perennials. It looks wonderful. Our neighbors slow down and look when they pass. Everyone at Metro Greenscape is professional and helpful. It is great to be treated like you are important and have someone know what your vision is for the final product.

We used Metrogreenscape to create an outdoor living area for us about 5 years ago. It was the best money we have spent on improvements on our house. The quality of the work has great, the employees were respectful and prompt, and it was just a great experience. I would highly recommend Darin and his company without hesitation.

After purchasing an older home in the Montebello neighborhood of Charlotte, my wife and I met with several landscape architectural firms in the area to assist us in designing a $200,000 complete remodel of the pool and patio area including the addition of an outdoor fireplace, kitchen and raised cabana off the back of the pool area. We asked each firm to draw a conception that introduced new, modern features but also blended in with the 30+ year old stone work on the front of the home as well as the signature 20’ high x 8’ wide fireplace in the great room. Metro GreenScape’s design work far surpassed the other bidders and showed that they truly understood our vision and were the right “partner” for this project.

Throughout the project, Darin and his team at Metro GreenScape were extremely helpful in discussing options along the way that we hadn’t initially thought of on the project. Ideas including adding a high stone backsplash to the outdoor kitchen to hide view of the only home visible from the pool deck, as well as adding a high wall water feature to the pool coping that doubles as seating in front of the fireplace and includes a water feature viewable from the master bedroom. We were extremely impressed with the professionalism and ideas from the entire staff, from the job foreman to the guys doing the mortaring who came up with the idea to whittle the wood on the cabana and fencing to give it an aged, cabin look that fit in perfectly with the rest of the cedar home.

I would highly recommend anyone who is considering an outdoor living space project, big or small, to contact Metro Greenscape and see if they are the right partner for you.

Darin Brockelbank is one of the most forward thinking landscape professionals I have ever met. He is an entrepreneur through and through and a creative problem solver. He does excellent work and get's the job done quickly . The finished product is also very handsome so I highly recommend him to anyone who wants a responsive and creative landscape specialist.

We contracted with Metro Greenscape in December of 2015 for three-phase outdoor project priced at just under $100,000.00 1) building an 8 foot retaining wall to stabilize our home including proper drainage installation, irrigation retrofit, etc.; 2) upper deck expansion; 3) installation of a paver patio, fire pit and back yard grass; and 4) upgrade front yard landscaping, including irrigation. We chose Metro for warranty guarantee.
The project began in January, 2016 and we experienced delays on a projected 6 week project from onset with managers not having blue prints, construction managers not being on site and turnover of employees. By the end of April, Metro still had not completed the contract. After attempts to get Metro to complete, on April 29, 2016, we contacted an attorney to address contract commitments, including final walk through and list of items yet to be completed/corrected. Metro Greenscape responded with an attorney, who despite negotiating since April, has consistently not responded in a timely manner, and has yet to provide an agreeement for completion. Some issues include:
1) Improper sloping of back yard. Wall exceeds height of home foundation 2) Ineffective irrigation - causing failure to thrive of grass in back and bushes in front 3) Improper installation of firepit and not to code - with GFCI in inaccessible area 4) Loose fence along top of retaining wall 5) Leaks throughout underdecking of new deck
6) Lifting of pavers and cracks over 1/2" as a result of improper compaction 7) Improper drainage, causing erosion along the North side of home and along the new retaining wall
What we are requesting still to this date:
1) Provide project permits 2) Proper Install fire pit 3) Repair slope of back yard 4) Repair all pavers lifting issues 5) Repair patio deck underdecking of leaking 6) Repair existing irrigation 7) Repair loose aluminum fencing along retaining wall and vinyl fence damage 8) Address drainage on North side of home and erosion

After nearly 40 years of home ownership and home improvement projects, I have never experienced the level of commitment, communication, professionalism, craftsmanship and customer service that we recently enjoyed with Metro GreenScape. When my initial on-line inquiry was responded to by the owner of the Company himself, I felt that there would be a genuine commitment to earning my business. I also scheduled appointments with 4 other landscape companies. It so happens that Metro GreenScape was our first appointment. After that meeting, all other appointments were cancelled. We knew then that we would be working with the best in the business in this area. At every turn, our decision was confirmed. From communication, design, on time performance and flawless execution while always mindful of our budget, our every expectation was exceeded. Our project included a massive hardscape and softscape as well. The level of craftsmanship is extraordinary. Metro GreenScape has transformed our property into the talk of the neighborhood and has literally stopped traffic as people inquire as to which company completed this work. No amount of marketing speaks louder or with more integrity than a satisfied customer. Landscape design and installation services are plentiful in the Charlotte metro area but if you are interested in working with only the finest on every level, look no further than Metro GreenScape.

I have used MetroGreenscapes for more than 10 years. In that time we have done two major multi-faceted projects which included hardscapes. I have also used them for smaller jobs as needed, and finally it became obvious that using them for maintenance as well made the most sense for consistency and simplicity. I don't have to remember to do anything; it's all set up and they take care of it. Darin Brockelbank is a genuinely good guy, and he has a great staff. When doing large projects for me, they take my ideal vision and come back with some modest version of that which fits my budget. I'm incredibly grateful to have such beautiful surroundings, personalized to my tastes.

After living in a row house in NYC, I was eager to move into a house with a nice yard with real grass! However, as I began trying to maintain the lawn - I discovered in a hurry that it was not the same task here in NC as it was in upstate NY where I grew up. I was quickly ready to get a landscaper to help me out. I had picked up Metro's card while at a southern living convention. I would say that every single one of the people who I have worked with in regards to my lawn has treated me like a best friend. From the time you walk in the door of the offices, to the time that someone does labor at the house - they are all so professional and really work to make me happy. They are just plain great people. And their work speaks for itself. I live on the lake. If you were to drive around our part of the lake, you'd notice our yard because it's the one that stands out! It's the lawn I have always dreamed of. They took this nasty old clay that I could not get anything to grow in and made it into a lush paradise. The previous owner visited and said, "Whoever does the yard is great, I never saw it look like that!" Honestly, I can't imagine why anyone would go anywhere else. These guys are just plain amazing. I love Metro!

As a new customer of Metro GreenScape I have been pleasantly surprised at every stage of our relationship. Darin Brockelbank and his people are absolute pros, caring about all the details and making me feel like a special customer in the process. Several times during the beginning of my relationship with them my expectations were exceeded by their practice of communicating, double checking and asking for my feedback. To call out just one of the people who have interfaced with me, Seth is a one-man model for great customer service: pro-active, great communication skills, pleasant and professional.
