If I could I would give no stars. I tried to set up a subscription for my mother who is in an independent living facility. I was told that I would have to pay the previous tenets unpaid balance before they could start her subscription.That was the only way their computer system would let them set up a new subscription at this address. Of course I thought they were crazy. I called back a little later and spoke with someone else who said she would start a new subscription for my mother. When I asked about what the previous person had said about not being able to set it up she became very rude and said "I TOLD YOU I WILL SET UP A NEW SUBSCRIPTION" almost yelling at me. Then she asked which subscription I wanted. I told her I wanted the year. She told me that was going to be $379. I was looking at my computer screen at the time and it was say the year subscription was $121.00. I asked her about that and she said that was for a digital subscription. I explained to her that is not what it was stating. It said 7 day home delivery $121.00 and the 7 day digital was $49.00 for 1 year. However with the home delivery the digital was included. This was an updated site in fact I believe it was a President day promotion. She then told me the best she could do would be $179 still way over the advertise amount. I asked why I was not getting the advertised rate on line and she actually hung up on me. I believe she was trying to maybe add the previous tenets past due bill. I would try setting it up on line but I am afraid somehow it would get tied up with the previous residents past due account. I really don't know what to do. My mother's only real enjoyment is reading the daily paper and I can't seem to get a daily paper set up. Why are these people so rude? How do they get away with it? Doesn't any one believe in customer service anymore?

I so wish there was another local newspaper. The Charlotte Observer, which I have subscribed to practically all my life, is just a terrible paper. It has very little world news, mostly local news, is extremely liberal, publishing mostly Trump bashing and never giving him credit for anything. Mostly pastes news from the Washington Post and New York Times, and editorial board is all liberal, never ceasing to call Trump stupid and inadequate, along with his supporters and has very disrespectful and inflammatory cartoons. They also do not support our police and are all for lawbreakers, LGBTs, and against our North Carolina lawmakers. They never miss a chance to put down every single thing that our President is attempting to do for the good of our country, ignoring the fact that North Carolina voted for President Trump. I am disgusted with the paper, but addicted to my mornings with a newspaper, so I feel that this is a subscriber between a rock and a hard place. If there were a suitable daily newspaper other than this, I would subscribe to it in a heartbeat.
